Product Description
Two men meet in a train station. One believes he s Hitler, the other, Christ. Their unusual pairing brings together two of the most controversial figures in human history. Hitler Meets Christ tells the story of two homeless men wandering the crumbling urban wasteland of a city ghetto. Pitted in a tireless debate, the defiant Hitler is incensed by his companion while Christ struggles to detect any trace of a human soul beneath Hitler s rock-solid layers of bile and hatred. As the friction escalates, Hitler s rage becomes all-consuming and Christ is forced to test his own endurance in his search to answer the question. Just how far does God s love extend? This chilling tale is based on Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Michael Moriarty's (Law and Order, Pale Rider) controversial play.

Yet, Michael Moriarty's attempt is a very good one. I had some disagreement with his vision but it was very thought provoking. There is no attempt to make easy explanations for difficult theological concepts or cheap justifications for the evil people do.
The acting was fantastic. There is a point in the film where you feel that Christ and Hitler are actually conversing instead of two homeless men.
Michael wanders the town talking to a gentleman ("Christ" from the title) who is trying to help Michael through his issues. The gentleman is not unkempt as Michael is: Is this his social worker? Is this his imaginary friend? Michael's current issue is he is waiting for death or Death, and he wishes to be completely forgotten once dead.
Expect Michael's normal religious rants. The viewer will most likely find this a poor film that's funny to watch. I recommend this for those familiar with Michael Moriarty's rants, or if you enjoy bad art-school films centering around religious debate (nothing too deep, of course). It has some mixing issues so keep the volume control close by.
The added bonus are the trailers for independent and forgotten 1960s films; a couple look like great movies. My favourite trailer of the group is the first, since they completely forgot to GIVE THE NAME of the film, but do show the plot visually from start to finish.
(Plum Sites, lover of bad cinema)
I love this movie. I just saw it a few moments ago and this is definately one heck of a good film - perhaps absolutely one of the best films I've seen in my whole life. It is also the second best film starring two actors I've ever seen apart from Lars Von Trier's Antichrist. My fascination with Lars Von Trier's movie has terrified Jon Baldvin Hannibalsson , who remains one of Lars'fiercest critics. Of course , Lars is not the director of this film. In this movie , Adolph Hitler and Jesus Christ confront each other in an apocalyptic showdown of................philosophical debate. Of course , one character will win - but the question you , dear reader of this review will be asking yourself will ineviteably be which one? Traditionally , Herr Hitler is presented as the bad guy , and Jesus as the good guy , for big bussiness'sake , and to somehow attempt to marketize this movie for anti - revisionist Holocaustal litterature fans in an attempt to protect the status guo. But in that agenda , the film fails beautifully. Herr Hitler is portrayed in ways that satisfy myself somewhat as an enthusiast of the life and times of Adolph Hitler and of national socialism as political policy. The Jesus character is also very fun , and in the end , the question is which Sun wins over which? Having seen the film , I leave that up to the reader to conclude as the movie is finished. This film so brilliantly fails to meet with the end of it's director , that it really does not matter at all and so it becomes a classic non - mainstream movie , even though it emphasizes that the Holocaust happened as described , which an increasing number of well - meaning scholars find difficult to believe. I being among those who find it difficult to believe that the Holocaust happened as described. Perhaps both actors should receive an oscar for their attempts to portray the characters as depicted - the facts themselves don't matter for me as a viewer when watching the film's alternative reality unfold. I love alternative reality movies. What if Herr Adolph Hitler was to meet up with a real life Jesus Christ and they were to have a chat with each other? Naturally I don't believe that there was a historical Jesus as portrayed in most scholarly works about Jesus , but that does not prevent me from enjoying the film. I enjoy it because I aspire to do so , and because I grasp it's message chillingly. Because of the film's message , I decided not to acknowledge it as a mainstream movie , because I believe that doing that would be of little use to the credibility of the film as an enjoyable work of art , and one that's hopefully going to become an immediate cult classic. Provided Jesus will return , if he decides to return as a Sith , you may find out why after having watched this film. If he does , he better get used to the use of the traditional Sith lightsaber , and cloak as well!!!!
I love this film and thank you so much director of this movie - please don't feel offended by my comment and if I am wrong about the market thing could you please be so kind to let me know?
Wonderful film , in many ways beautiful , absolutely stunningly well done!!!
little more surreal. Fascinating that it's also written by him, perhaps
offering some insight into his own views on the world. Strong acting by
Moriarty, and not bad from his side-kick Jesus too. Pretty haunting in the
end. And set in Vancouver, Canada? What's that all about?
What is most disappointing about this movie is that it could have been a thought provoking, intelligently written dialogue between two of the most impactful figures in history, but which instead descends into a clichéd, predictable, amateurish mess that could have been written and acted by children in grade school with 8mm video cameras. When it finally, mercifully, came to an end, I could not get it out of the DVD player fast enough and thought briefly about defacing it (a rental) so it could not inflict its "vision" on other viewers....
