The Hitman game had lost its mojo following the successful edition for the Xbox 360 in 2005. That was a classic because there were so many options to fulfill each contract. You could play the same story line several different ways. It was a lot of fun. Then subsequent editions were much more linear. Point A to Point B. No room for creativity.
The version just previous to the Definitive Edition was much better. But it felt unfinished. It didn't flow. It seems to me this was fixed in the Definitive Edition. It's the same game but the "missing" bits were added. It's now a complete game in terms of flow and feel. I'm not a fan of the costly add-ons that most new games are tapping into, but if you are an old-school Hitman fan, then the Definitive Edition is worth a rental if not a purchase.
