This is a great product Excellent price!!! I'm a welder I've used auto darkening helmets... the expensive miller ones that claim to never need a battery.... Bulls***.... They do require batteries... I got tired of of hassling with those and decided to get this "cheapie" it turned out to be the best helmet I've ever owned I love it... I've had it for 2yrs and it's still going strong. I definitely recommend this product for home or industrial use!!!

I got my helmet in several days ago and have been welding with it now for 3 days. I didnt want to buy a 60 dollar helmet because i will relaistically only be welding ONE project that I can think of.... SO for the price I was expecting a thin plastic hunk of junk. Well I got way more than that. For the price it is exceptional.

PROS:

*CHEAP! The best Pro!
*Blocks harmful rays
*Value

CONS:
*
Side helmet bolt stripped when I was using it
*Narrow viewing area

Overall I feel it is a 4.5 star, even with the issues I had. Totally worth it for me because I didnt want to throw down 60 bucks for something IM ONLY GOING TO USE ONCE!!!!!!

Satisfied.

I dont know what the people before me mean by it's light. This is a pretty solid helmet, other than the headgear. Here in the shop, we have fixed shade helmets ($45) that are more flimsy than this. I'm concerned about the shade of the lens though. It says the shade is #10, but it's not any darker than #9 shade we use in the shop. Thus, the four stars. The clear lens on mine really isnt that thin, as said in the reviews before. I poked it pretty hard after reading those reviews and it stayed in place just fine, barely even bent. This really is a great helmet for new welders, hobby welders, and it's really affordable. Not an everyday helmet, but definately worth the $25! This thing will probly last just as long, if not longer, than the auto-darkening helmets bought for $100+ (as long as you take care of it)

This is the least expensive welding helmet I found. It's reasonably comfortable. Both the strap over the top of the head and the strap around the head are adjustable. It's fairly heavy for a basic helmet. Also, the clear shield seems rather flimsy.

I bought this for some occasional flux core welding. If you're doing some heavy work I would think a better helmet would be recommended but for the $13.99 I paid it works for me. The clear inner shield is about as thin as the packing on some meat wrappers and pops out if you press on it lightly. You can easily replace it with a piece of safety glass off that big 4 letter auction site and I will be doing so. Head fit and adjustment are OK and at the price I got what I expected and I'm not disappointed but my rating is based on that so if you're doing some heavy welding don't buy this one. If I wasn't so cheap I'd have gone for the auto darkening mask.

Very pleased with this hood. I'm not into auto-darkening hoods; I like old school. The plastic of the faceshield is thick and sturdy, the headband is solid and the eyeshield is well made and sturdy. The only downside is the knobs on the sides that control the tension of the hood when it is up being plastic and jump threads if you tighten too much - hence the four stars and not five. That aside you can't go wrong for the price.

The bad reviews must be for earlier orders because there's nothing wrong with this welding hood that I received. The head band and associated straps and screw connections were assembled so there's nothing to do but make adjustments for your size of head. I wear a 7 7/8" hat and there's plenty of room for someone that wears a bigger hat size or smaller hat size. When you flip the hood up it holds in place as it should. The lens also flips up with no problems. For the price I don't see how you can go wrong with it.

Shame on you, Hobart! How hard would it have been to make this thing so that it would stay up and not flop down when you don't want it to? The plastic screws that need to be tightened to keep enough friction on for the hat to stay up are so soft that the threads stripped off right away. Then I replaced them with steel 1/4/20 cap screws, so now it at least will stay up, but every time I move it down it unscrews the capscrew enough that I need to retighten it after each time I raise it. Basically, the whole headband assembly is junk
