I ordered a size 13 booted wader. I'm 6'1", and weigh in around 260, not a small person by any stretch. I wear a size 13 shoe so I figured a size 13 was the way to go... wrong. I was SWIMMING in the size 13 and I have a good 3/4" toe room in the boot. BUT - I kept them on for a good 20 minutes indoors and was surprised at how comfortable they were to wear. Like some have said, the boot does not have a lot of support or insulation, but then I'm not planning on spending a long time in these and I'm not some pro-am fly fisherman.
More to come as I step out into the frigid waters of the Puget Sound in December! Hopefully I'll be able to upgrade the review from 3 starts to 5.
I'm completely satisfied with them. They are super comfortable, well made and excellent.
The smell on opening the box does go away after a day or two of airing so when you purchase yours, open them up a day or two before you plan to use them.
NB For women's sizes, go the Bass Pro shops and get the RedHead Classic Series II waders for a comparable lady's boot/wader.
I am trying these as an alternative. They are indeed lighter and I feel more mobile in them. They are, however, much colder (water temp now is in low 50s). But I think that with long underwear they will work. Summer wading will be a joy (I always sweat in the neoprene.)
They are also much cheaper than comparable quality neoprene, and given that my waders usually only last 2 seasons for me (I fish a lot), it seems like it is worth the risk to try these for a season.
