Cons: Battery life seems shorter than advertised, full charge takes a while, non-removable battery, lacks any type of trim which makes tight maneuvering difficult.
Overall it's fun, but useful flight time isn't very long at all. As the battery life decreases, the stability of the Helix decreases as well making it harder to fly. A full charge takes ~20-30 minutes which is too long for only a couple minutes of flight. When you only have 2 or 3 minutes of usable flight, multiple kids (who all want to fly it of course!), and 20-30 minutes per charge, things get frustrating pretty quickly. If this thing had a replaceable battery option, it would be much more enticing.
On a side note, I have the battery complaint about almost every air hogs product I've purchased. Other than a few products, nothing allows for a quick swap which is frustrating for the consumer *AND* a money loser for Air Hogs. I would think that additional battery & charger sales are sufficient enough to design these products in such a manner and generate additional profit for the company.
The rotor shafts got hair wound around them and I could not remove it because the rotors do not come off. This slowed-down the speed of each rotor causing it to not fly correctly. I only got about 10 flights out of it before having problems. It flew quite nicely until the hair issue, except...
I also do not like the elevation control stick because it clicks in increments and does not allow you to maintain altitude--you are either ascending or descending, there is no in-between (level flight). If you want to attempt to maintain altitude you must constantly click back-and-forth.
If you can keep hair from getting wrapped around the rotor shafts and don't mind the incremental-style elevation control, then this may be for you. Personally, I did not like the Helix X4 and cannot recommend it. I'm going to try my luck with the Syma X6.
The Air Hogs RC Helix X4 Stunt Quad Copter is the first one that I haven't been able to damage while learning to control Yawl, Pitch, Roll and all the other things it does. The instructions are horrible so go to youtube and search for videos. This is the very best quad to learn all the actions needed to fly the bigger and more expensive ones. Getting this model will save you lots of money and headaches.

Don't buy this toy! It's very cheaply made. It looks like a $50-60 unit.Read more
