9 years & up. The 18" HOKKI is an ergonomic stool that transforms stationary sitting into an activity, ideal for brainstorming sessions and other active sitting environments. You're moving, even when you seem to be sitting still. The convex base allows for movement in all directions, which is critical to student development as physical movement both increases well-being and encourages the physical and intellectual maturing process. The polypropylene body is highly stable and durable, but at the same time extremely light. The soft base padding prevents slipping. The foam sitting surface ensures increased safety for children while seated. Weight limit 242 lbs.

"Great, a fun stool. A bit expensive though." Read more
I brought this stool to my work place for the times I get to sit. My job entails a lot of walking and standing. It is durable and stable. I had to add a foam cushion on the seat to make it more comfortable. Even though it is a bit pricey, the value to be able to move (rock) my body side to side or do gentle pelvic rotations while sitting is of great importance to me. Also the designed "instability" makes me pay attention to my posture while sitting which activates my abs too. This is my second Hokki. I encouraged my daughter to use the other stool because she sits all day in front of the computer to work.
He's 13 and plays a lot of video games. Which I don't mind, except that he clearly wasn't comfortable in a chair, sometimes even stood up while he was playing, and we all know what happens to your muscles and posture when you get absorbed in a screen. So I just plunked this stool down in front of the computer and let him decide. Three weeks later it's still there and I don't see any more awkward moves from him. He still changes position: sometimes his feet rest on the base of the stool, sometimes on the floor, and sometimes he tucks one of them under himself.
Stool is pleasantly light and easy to handle. There's not much padding on the top but he seems OK with that.
Oh yes. I'm sitting on it myself as I type this. Rocking gently back and forth Maybe I should try to get a bigger one and take it to work.
All of my students love sitting on these chairs. Not just for children with ADHD or those who utilize OT. I provide these stools to students to take back to their classrooms (Borrow) for week long use.
From 7 year old who received stool: "I like it takes a lot of getting used to. It's hard to stay upright. It looks well-made and it comes in good colors"
great stool! Got it for desk with limited space for a chair. I am 5'4" and the 18" stool is a little bit shorter than I would have liked, so consider your height when ordering.
