Okay, I'll admit this book intrigued me. I'm not sure if this is setting up a new series, but I hope it is because this is an intriguing look at a new paranormal world with some interesting creative twists. And I don't want to say anything more because anything I do will give away aspects of the story line and I don't want to do that.
But the novella takes place surrounding Valentine's Day and Bradley finally met "the guy"...the one to give his virginity to. The actual book takes place the next day when Bradley calls his best friend to gush and then realizes that he really doesn't know anything about this mystery man. Then things begin to unfold from there. It was a fun, short little read... perfect to read following the Valentine's Day holiday. I look forward to catching more by Sid Love.
This is the first book by Sid Love I've read, and while the storyline is beautiful, the shortness of the piece left me wanting quite a bit. It seemed it was rather rushed in places, that could have been slowed enough so the reader could adjust to the scene without being flung so quickly into another.
I'm generally not a big lover of the short story genre, but I've read at least one that was far shorter than this one that was so beautifully written, it was a full length novel in it's less than twenty pages. This book didn't do that for me. It left me with more than one question that could have easily been answered with the addition of another paragraph or two where needed. The biggest question I can't even voice because it would spoil things for those that haven't read this book yet.
I didn't find any errors though, which is always a plus in my book. The piece was flawlessly written in the editing department. I found no formatting issues either.
All in all, the story is a beautiful, although too short, love story. Perhaps the author will consider lengthening it, or adding a sequel, or prequel that will answer some of the questions it leaves behind.
I would recommend this book to any lover of Paranormal, love stories, or LGBT fiction. Even though it has a hole or two, it's still a great story, and I for one wouldn't mind reading other works from this author.
I give this book 4 of 5 paws.
The world he’s created is different from any other, which was a very sweet treat. From the very beginning of this book he caught my attention and drew me right in and held me there.
Brad met the man of his dreams, but unfortunately for him, he really couldn’t remember anything about him or the time they spent together. This starts Brad’s quest to find his perfect guy and along the way it takes twists and turns I didn’t see coming.
I don’t want to go into detail, because I don’t want to ruin this for anyone by supplying spoilers.
Suffice it to say, I really liked everything about this book from the characters the writer created to the world they live in. I’d love to see more of Brad and his mystery man in the future.
Congratulations on your first book, Sid. You did a fabulous job!!!
This isn't a long book but the characters pack a punch and the emotions that the author evoke in you makes you care very, nearly instantly for Brad and Leslie. You see just how much Brad wants to remember the mystery guy that stole his heart, that meant something to him but he just couldn't remember much at all. He drags his best friend Leslie to their mutual friend Ian's in order to see if they can find out all the details.
What they don't know is that by the end of that night, Brad will be in mortal danger and their is only one person who can save him. Ronan, his mystery man.
This book take vampires and puts them back where they mostly belong, as the bad guys who feed on humans and evoke no sympathy from the human population but also introduces a half breed called dhampirs with powers and strength that help them hunt their supernatural counterparts.
Sid writes this beautifully, with details that pop off the page and very real emotion that you can feel between the various characters. You see exactly how much these two boys mean to each other by the end of the book and the title, Holding on to Hope, really comes into play then.
This has been left wide open for a sequel, which I do believe I've read something about. I can't wait for more from this super talented young author that I am proud to call a friend. Great job on creating this fabulous world Sid!
