I was reminded how we are all in this "living" together. I found relatable experiences through the evolution of music and living at a wolf rescue. "The Weather Outside is Frightful" touched my own soul. A connection was made ... one that will always stay with me.
I also made a connection to a homemade dollhouse and how love built stronger walls than any toy manufacturer could possibly create. I found myself remembering the times I would want something like someone famous had, so that I might feel as special in my own heart. I enjoyed connecting with my own love of poetry inside the enchantments of this very special Christmas book. Even the miracles of Christmas were included and life spent in different locations as a child of a military father, something I could not relate to, but found so fascinating.
I laughed over hummingbirds growling and how a loving connection with a parent can be made over the tiniest things in life and what life was like for a Puerto Rican Christmas in New York. I actually laughed out loud over the "Great Sweet Potato Revolt of 1981," and thought about my own son making snow angels in reading "The First Snow."
I was touched by the story of the Polish grandmother, Buschia, and I loved peering in on life "Remembering Bellaire Avenue" with the Perlin family. I still get shivers reading about the angst of family running from family in "The Man in the Window." It will stay with me a long time. I was swept away by the magic of a snowflake and the beauty of lessons that come from nature and how they can be all the more magical at Christmastime.
Each story and poem in this enchanting book is sure to touch something inside everyone of us. Even if you celebrate something other than Christmas, the life stories are relatable. I've come away with a sense of wonder, magic, joy, fear, sadness and all the other emotions that make up our human experience. This is as much a book about life, love and everything that makes families unique ... just like snowflakes. A fabulous read~ A gift of magic for anyone ... Highest recommendation!
It is such an honor to read a book where you know most of the authors, hear their struggles but still stand firm in the knowledge that there is still a future. There is still a reason to move forward and enjoy the richness of this life, sharing it with others.
We can never disregard those moments that builds us, strengthen us, as well as the people that walks with us. They are the reason we are, who we are. Our pillar during times that we need it the most, and a constant reminder of our weakness, keeping us humble at all times.
Thanks for sharing this lovely book with us. I really enjoyed the book, appreciating each author tremendously for who they are.
I loved it so much I gave a few away as gifts. Really a blessing to read.
