I was fascinated at the premise of this book, Hollywood meets the small town of Quincy, Georgia. Traditions, proprieties, and manners are paramount in this small town and it was very entertaining to see how the townsfolk deal with the outside world converging on them to shoot a movie in their town.
Enter Summer Jenkins. She's lived in the town since she was seven years old, part of the town but not really part of it since she wasn't born there. Accepted into the fold for most of her life, until she does something that pretty much seals her fate. Now she's been the town Pariah for the past three years. All Summer thinks about now is how to get out of Quincy and find someplace in the world that she will actually feel accepted.
Cole Masten, Hollywood superstar, 3 time Oscar winner and the money behind the movie that will shoot in Quincy. Also the jilted husband whose wife was caught cheating on him. Under the direction of his divorce attorney, who many of you will recognize and jump up and down ecstatically over, Cole heads to Quincy ahead of schedule to get out of the harsh limelight of Hollywood.
Upon their first meeting you can feel the sparks fly between Cole and Summer, but are they good sparks or just their dislike for one another? The chemistry is undeniable though, and impulsively Cole casts Summer as the lead in his movie.
First we meet Summer, who has lead a very uneventful life, content to just exist in Quincy alongside her momma, never really wanting more for herself, until that one fateful night of the "incident" that changes everything and turns her into the outcast of the town. Now she's hell bent on finding a way to get out of Quincy. This movie coming to town just might be her ticket to freedom.
Then there is Cole, mega superstar who has a personal assistant that practically runs his whole life. Always in the public eye, always having to smile for the fans and paparazzi, always having to be "on". When he lands in Quincy with no assistant to handle everything and no one seems to care two bits about who he is, he gets a painful dose of reality. And Summer serves up that reality to him in spades, with her intense dislike of him and attitude that she could care less who he is or that he looks like some kind of beautiful god.
What follows is an entertaining tale of two people who end up digging deep within themselves to figure out who they truly are, and what they truly want out of life. Alessandra does a superb job of putting the readers into these two people's heads, telling the story from alternating points of view. I couldn't put the book down, totally drawn into the lives of Summer and Cole. Their interactions are priceless, fighting with each other at every turn, then fighting their intense attraction to each other the next.
Truly entertaining story! As usual Alessandra does a great job of building the characters, not rushing us through who they are or what they're made of. Their true selves are revealed slowly over each chapter and when Summer and Cole finally come to the realization of how they feel and what they want, the fireworks between them certainly ignited the flames of passion and desire and their sexual connection is explosive!
If you've read any of Alessandra's other books, you're already familiar with her writing style, how seamlessly it flows and takes you on a literal journey. This book is no different, it is just a lighter storyline than we've seen from her lately but no less compelling or intriguing.
I highly recommend this book to everyone, it will absolutely be a book I'll read again and again!
Welcome to Quincy.
Home of the Coca Cola millionaires.
Filming Location for Fortune Bottle.
It also just happens to be the home of Summer Jenkins. Summer made local headlines after her epically famous and now infamous rehearsal dinner. Since that fateful night Summer has one goal in mind, to leave Quincy and never look back. Living with her mother whom she adores and working on the Anna Holden plantation on which they live has grown old for Summer, she just wants a fresh start, in a place where she can disappear and no one knows of her past. When the opportunity of a lifetime presents itself Summer needs only a moment to decide to jump on the Hollywood crazy train that will be rolling into Quincy in a few short weeks to film a major motion picture. Making herself useful and earning enough cash to escape the stigma of her past becomes her sole mission.
“I would not become my mother. I wanted, in some way, to live my life.”
Cole Masten, the golden boy of Hollywood, he can do no wrong and is heading to Quincy, to make the movie that will define his career, not only as it’s male lead but as the head of the entire production. Funding Fortune Bottle personally it’s Cole’s baby and his dream come true. Having a beautiful and famous wife, Cole is a man that seems to have everything in life that he could possibly want, but that is all about to change. One night changes everything for Cole and suddenly he finds himself in a position he’d never dreamed of. Fresh off the ultimate betrayal he’s sent to Quincy by his attorney, Brad DeLuca (cue swooning ladies…He’s Back) early to begin work on the project that he’s championed for. Summer and Cole are about to come face to face and the results are going to explosive in more ways than one.

“Kiss me like that again and I’ll rip your eyes from their sockets.”
“I hated that man; he was an a**hole unlike I’d ever known.”
Hollywood Dirt is one hell of a ride. It’s the story that once you begin you won’t be able to walk away from. I dove into this book late last night, exhausted and feeling ill, and yet I had to fight with myself to put it down and go to sleep. I found myself falling head over heels for Summer, right away. I loved her personality, her sass, her southern charm, and her spunk. Quickly afterwards I found myself both loving and hating Cole. He’s the stereotypical, entitled Hollywood heart throb and he seems hell bent on pushing every single one of Summer’s buttons. Their obvious disdain for each other is entertaining as hell, and the sexual tension and chemistry seeps off the page.
“Jesus, Summer, I want to taste you so badly.”
Alessandra Torre has given us a story unlike any of her others. Hollywood Dirt is a funny, quirky, sensuous story that will light you up in all the best ways. The small town, the intriguing and loveable characters, the humor and sizzling sexiness is more than enough to keep you flipping pages at a furious rate until you’ve reached the very end. The writing is astonishing and the story is unique, it’s totally engaging. I loved this book so much, it captivated me. I really hope that at some point this book has a sequel or a spin off; I’d love to get more from these characters that I fell in love with. Until then, I guess I’ll just continue to imagine what a fine rooster Cocky has grown to be. HAHAHAHAHAHA...
“There was something about her, something that had tugged on him since the moment they had met. A tug that had become an addiction. An addiction that he needed to cure.”
