About the Author
Kody Christiansen was born in Fort Worth, Texas on February 1st. Graduated with honors from L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas and attended Texas Christian University, where he took drama classes and was in the award winning concert choral. He moved to New York City in 2002 where he worked along side Britney Spears and garnered much attention from the relationship. He could be seen gracing the pages of the UK's Heat Magazine, The Enquirer, HX Magazine and was featured on The Ricki Lake Show, The Tyra Banks Show and in the film Miss Congeniality 2. He moved to LA in 2005 where he managed a famous cake shop in West Hollywood which served celebrities as well as made prop cakes for television and movies. While he was in the Hollywood scene, he had yet to break into the acting side of it all. Addiction became a destructive part of his life. It wasn't until a series of tragic events sent him back to New York City and his true calling in the entertainment world could be heard again. Through a commitment to sobriety his first real break came from his recurring role as an FBI Technical Analyst on NBC's 'The Blacklist.' His memoir "Hollywood Heartbreak | New York Dreams" became a best-seller overnight and has touched the lives of many already. The book was awarded medals at The Readers' Favorite International Book Awards and The Beverly Hills International Book Awards. He is continuing to write, working in the entertainment field, hosting book tours and hopes to continue to inspire others to follow their dreams, no matter the roadblocks. "Anything is possible, if you take a chance on yourself. Stay Strong and Dream Big!" - Kody

But this isn't merely a journal entry or a blog. The writing is good. And I know the more he writes, it will get even better. For a first book, the flow was good and the cohesiveness of the ideas and story worked well. I could overlook some of the errors because I was invested in the story. (I'm sorry! I can't help but notice!! But I still gave 5 stars!!!! 😀😀😀)
As for the subject matter: wow. To go through so much, most people would just give up or end up living in a perpetual cycle of drugs, drinking, and homelessness until they die. I am so proud of Kody's resilience and drive to better himself. I know this story will and has already touched lives and helped people who struggle with addiction. Addiction is no joke and people need to see the good, the bad, the ugly.
The candidness and the truthfulness in this book allow the reader to really sympathize and root for Kody's success. The whole way through I kept thinking, "No don't have a drink! You have so much to offer!"
Kody: This was such a brave endeavor- to open your life up and literally be an open book. To allow us into your journey is a gift for us. Thank you for sharing your story. I will be watching as you continue your success and rooting for you all the way!! And if you stumble, don't give up. We are human and you have so many people rooting for you!!
