Day is great, and so is the cast of supporting characters. They're all unique enough to stand out on their own.
The mystery is a lot of fun. Garrett made me suspect almost everyone at one point or another, which for me is the hallmark of a good mystery. No one is safe, anyone could be guilty! But the ending still made perfect sense. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Second thing I love about this book is the way you can tell Garrett knows how Hollywood works. Day’s effortless knowledge of the ins and outs of entertainment give you a peek behind the curtain and add a level of authenticity that you can’t fake. There’s a rich world here for the characters to run around in. I’m looking forward to spending more time in it during upcoming installments.
So if you’re looking for a cozy mystery with a great voice, a lot of humor, and a complex setting look no further.
Dayna Anderson has a lot of energy, and a sudden interest in getting reward money from the police tip line. Mix that in with some good friends and some Hollywood lifestyle and Kellye Garrett had me laughing and rooting and just as sure as her amateur sleuth, until I was just as unsure and on to the next idea.
I want to know Dayna. She and I might never hang at the same places, but I'm sure we would laugh together over follies.
Generally, I'm not that much of a sucker for mysteries. Once I've figured out who committed the crime I lose interest. Even though the villain seemed apparent to me from the get-go, there were so many red herrings and redirections thrown my way that I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. That little voice saying "but what if you're wrong?" kept me company the whole time. The main character, an out-of-work former TV commercial star named Dayna Anderson, is as real as they get. I loved the setup for both the crime and for Dayna's life, her friends, the quirky people she meets, the stars she rubs shoulders with, and the larger glances at L.A. (I adore it when authors make the setting their own character, and Kellye Garrett did that so well here). Hollywood Homicide is a fun roller coaster of a book. It does a great job of taking typical murder-mystery tropes and turning them on their...well, heels in this case. I hope there are many more Dayna Anderson books in my future. I can't wait to read them all!
I will be following Kellye on Amazon/Facebook so I can keep up with when her next book comes out.
