Yes, there is a mystery to this story, and you'll never guess the truth of the "bad guys" until it is revealed by the author, near the end.
How could this story be anything but fun, when you have a paparazzi with a fast-deepening (yet long-standing) crush upon her quarry? A quarry soon to be wed to the nation's #1 starlet. And who, due to an act of fate, she alone sees being accosted in a dark alley behind a club, an alley where she had stationed herself for the chance shot of him taking a break out the back door, having been denied positioning for a better shot out front by her competitor camera goons?
But no-one believes what she saw, despite the incriminating photos she has taken documenting the situation. Her boss, her best friend, even the back-stabbing new girl getting the boss's attentions for all the wrong reasons believe she has fallen for a well-placed publicity stunt.
Until she meets face-to-face with the man of her (and all female America's...if not world's) dreams. And she confronts him, refusing to take "no" for an answer. And she, at last, receives confirmation of the very real dangers he faces, gratis having found a flash drive within the limo he utilized going to the opening of his latest movie.
Suddenly, he is forced to allow her to help resolve his problems, with promise that she will have exclusive rights to the story, once dangers are resolved. But folks around him are being killed, his starlet fiance is kidnapped, his life continues to be threatened, and, now, our camera girl is in danger as well.
Will they even be able to survive all this, particularly after little miss backstabbing new girl glues herself to the action. Not just her, but also the psychic consultant brought to the office to investigate an unsolved 30 year cold case of a Hollywood death, anniversary of which is a lead story?
This book is chock-full of unexpected turns and twists, and is sure to bring dozens of smiles as you read it. As I said, pure fun! Perfect for a lousy day, or as follow-up to a gut-wrenching mystery that has you still tied up in knots.
You're sure to enjoy the reading of this delightful story.
Aside from that the good news is that this is a fast paced, truly enjoyable read. Light enough to be fun, with a plot that holds the interest, and characters to love. Cam Dakota is the very talented photographer for Felix Dunn's (of High Heels fame) tabloid, assigned to take pix of heart throb and rising star Trace Brody. Cam is a much more believable character than Maddie Springer (although I'm definitely a Maddie fan, don't get me wrong), and the characters and plot are well-developed.
Now for the bad news: I have the Kindle version and whoever typed this or transferred it to e-reader format and proofed it needs new eyeglasses. If the book wasn't as good as it is, I would have stopped reading. The typos and formatting issues are down right annoying at times.
Additionally it really should be noted that if you are considering purchasing the Kindle edition, BUYER BEWARE. It leaves much to be desired. Whoever transferred it to ereader format did so with numerous typos and several occasions of words being omitted, repeated, and misspelled; missing punctuation; formatting errors resulting in large gaps before the next chapter of text appears, and instances of improper indentation as well as spacing issues. It's not horrendous enough to make it completely unreadable; it's surprising how many internal corrections the brain will make. However these sorts of careless errors would not pass muster on a high school essay. They certainly should not have been allowed into a professional publication. I love my Kindle, but I truly wish I had my money back on this ebook to go buy the print version instead, which is what I would advice anyone else to do.
