the characters from "Hot Fun in the Summertime".
However, the editing was nonexistent. I started taking notes when I had about 10% of the book left to read.
There were 6 grammatical errors, and many more in the entire book. In fact, numerous times I needed to
reread a sentence several times before I understood what Ms. Brown was trying to convey. There were quite a few
errors in Hot Fun, also. Another glaring "incident" (IMHO) was how the use of a particular word or phrase led me
to immediately draw a conclusion as to what would happen.
I've enjoyed the 2 books written by Chicki Brown, but at one point I wondered if anyone had actually gone back
through her manuscript to do any editing! Seriously she needs to hire a proofreader, or fire the one she has!

"Hollywood Swinging" by Chicki Brown was a good read. This was the sequel to 'Hot Fun in the Summertime' which was also a good read. I found the main characters very interesting and believable ....Shontae and Devin.....along with Phe, Devin's parents, Monica, Vaughn, Julius and a few others that will only have you keep turning the pages until the very end.
"Hollywood Swinging is the story of a newlywed couple who are trying to make a life for themselves in a new city." Will there be any problems? Yes, Yes and Yes! When you pick up this wonderful read be ready for all the glitz, glamour, romance, in-laws, two careers, mystery, drama, stalker and even suicide... that you can only imagine in Hollywood. I do not think you will be disappointed! Be ready for a interesting ending!
Ms. Brown writes well written dialogues with believable characters and that is why I enjoy all of her novels. With that being said...YES, I would recommend "Hollywood Swinging" as a excellent read.
I liked this book better than Hot Fun In the Summertime only because it focused on 2 main characters. Devon & Shontae had a gr8 relationship, and it was great to read how Devon's career blossomed so nicely. I wish though that Shontae had the same level of success as well, since Devon's career over shadowed hers. Vaughn was a hilarious character to me. His one liners really had me laughing. I really wouldn't mind reading a book about him, or Phe & Julius. It would be nice to see how their relationship progresses. The only complaint I have is the love scenes are seriously lacking descriptive details. They were like and I paraphrase: "they were in the bath, then move to the bedroom, and Devon did his thing" that's it. After each love scene I was really disappointed, because they just left the reader hanging. I think if the author adds more to these I would really enjoy her books a lot more. I'd love to read a follow up to see how Devon & Shontae's relationship turns out with their added addition.
One thing that I was disappointed about was the lack of details in the love scenes. In the first book, the author went more in depth. I would have loved more of that this time. Not that it had to be x-rated, but the first book gave the readers more intimacy.
Overall, the story was awesome and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
