I was very surprised and a bit disappointed with this Bible. Zondervan is a very respected Bible publisher, but this translation was not at all like my hard copy Bible. This Bible is supposedly a NIV Bible, but they have changed a lot of the wording-it has been made politically correct. The translation should be renamed--the new and revised NIV or something like that. I would return it if I could and get an actual NIV Bible. Very disappointed with this one.

I was really excited to get this bible. I especially wanted it for the red lettering. So color me disappointed, no red letters. I checked all the gospels... not a single red letter to be found. I re-checked the cover... yep, it says, "Words of Christ in Red."

I cannot find an index to go to books in the bible.
I find that reading and understanding what is saying is great but I would like to go to specific books and verse

This has been a great, easy-to-use reference Bible up until Kindle's latest software upgrade installed last night. The upgrade will cause significant usage difficulties with the Touch! Let me explain.

Navigating around the Zondervan version was accomplished by using the Table of Contents to jump to the various scriptures. This hasn't been a problem until Kindle installed their new software update 5.0.1. I stumbled across the glitch while in church this morning.

To access a scripture verse, the routine has been to touch the top of the screen, then press the Go To button, and finally the Table of Contents selection. That would bring up a choice of Old Testament and New Testament, with the appropriate books in their respective orders. Now, the Table of Contents alternately appears and disappears, and unless you know what page number to go to, you're stuck!

I DID find a work-around though. When the TOC disappears, choose "Front Matter". That will display the 1st page of the book. Press the top of the screen again, then select Go To (-again) and the TOC will display.

-an awkward work-around, but one that will return functionality to your Zondervan Bible.

I purchased the Kindle NIV (2011) to review, and see how it compared both with the NIV and the TNIV. This revision is something of a compromise between the TNIV and its critics. The overall rating I'd give is an A-. The new NIV is translated much better than it's predecessor, however it does, at times, reflect a reformed bias in the translation. Still, it's a good translation made better by this update.

This is another instance to where I'm glad I did not listen to the reviews. Many were having problems with it and I have learned that sometimes persons who are having the problems doesn't mean the product is faulty. (I do not mean this to offend anyone) Sometimes they may not understand the instructions. Whatever the case may be I love it and the only reason it isn't my only Bible to use in church is there is no Old Testament available. I do hope that will be offered soon. The fact it is not the complete Bible is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.

Since I enjoy discussing spiritual matters with people, it is nice to have a Kindle version of the English language "New Testament" loaded onto my iPhone 5s. The 'red letter' feature makes it super easy to spot the sayings of Yeshu / Jesus, and, the search feature is a huge plus. Highly recommend this Kindle version for anyone interested in having convenient access to Christianity's seminal anthology.
