Homax 80099 No-Sag EasyGate Bracket Kit
Easy Gate No-Sag Gate Kit
Building a fence or utility gate properly is critical to reduce sagging and to maintain use and longevity over time. Building a sturdy, square gate and eliminating problem gate sagging is a snap with the Homax Easy Gate no-sag gate kit.
Easy to Use
The kit makes it easy to create results that look and perform as if completed by a professional, but it's simple enough for any beginner or novice DIY-er. The Homax Easy Gate no-sag gate kit enables a homeowner to build a sag-free, "square" gate in as little as 20 minutes--with minimal tools required (just a screw driver, drill, and saw).
The kit includes four gate brackets with attached hinges and weather-resistant screws for easy assembly. All the parts are constructed of heavy-duty, powder-coated steel in a black finish to resist rust, which means high-quality performance and great looks from one season to the next.
The kit constructs a gate for an opening of 25 inches (63.5 cm) to 72 inches (183 cm) wide, with no height restrictions. Choose between a left or right swing, depending on preference. The gate kit also accommodates a variety of lumber types and lumber sizes (2x4's, 2x6's, etc.), making it easy to match existing surroundings.
Where To Use
Use the Homax Easy Gate no-sag gate kit for wooden fence gates to add curb appeal and character to your home, while enhancing privacy and safety. In addition, you can use Easy Gate to build driveway gates, corral gates, shed doors, deck gates, pool gates, livestock stall doors, and utility gates to protect your property and equipment.

Be careful to use the bevel head screws for the hinge areas as if you use the pan head screws the hinges may not fully close and you'll have to take it all apart. Using an impact screw gun is very helpful also.
I'm not sure of the quality of screws that are provided in how they will hold up being used in treated lumber over the long term. Some of the screws are already beginning to rust and have only been out in the weather for about 60 days at this point (see photos). You can easily use your own provided screws that are the correct size and are rated for use with treated lumber.
I found that the hinge side brackets were just about 1/8" too narrow to fit a standard 2x4, and I had to notch out the 2x4 to allow the brackets to fit properly- not a huge issue but might cause someone frustration if they only have a circular saw to work with... I have a table saw so it was a 30 sec resolution...
I added a cable and turnbuckle to really make sure that this would be a 'no-sag' gate install, but I think for most smaller gates up to about 3 feet wide that this gate kit would not sag. My gate shown in the pictures is about 48" wide, so I just wanted to be sure...
The supplied screws to me seem to be too short to really carry the load of a typical gate, so I'd suggest that you replace at least one or two of the screws in each hinge plate with longer 3" or long long deck screws for maximum durability...
I've used 2 of these kits for 4 foot gates and I bought 2 more for a pair of 5 foot gates that I need to rebuild.
It is quick to assemble, but takes a little longer in reality than their assembly video leads you to believe. Overall, looks like a quality product but must be carefully assembled to get the best results.
These issues aside these made pretty nice gates that should hold up well.
It is fairly easy to build a gate using this kit, and it's definitely sturdy. the down side is that the gate is quite heavy, and eventually it did sag a bit, so I have to lift the gate a bit to get it to match up with the latching mechanism. but that's not a huge problem, and worth it to me, since the strength of the gate was the more important issue in my situation. these gates needed to hold in a very, very large and powerful dog, and they do.
I do have to take off a star for the screws included in the kit, though. They're all flat-head screws, which are really only appropriate for the hinge plates. The other screw holes in these brackets are not even countersunk, so flat-head screws don't fit well, especially if you aren't VERY precise with your pilot holes. Pan-head screws would have been more appropriate for at least part of the assembly. Furthermore, the screws, though finished black, are most definitely not stainless steel, which means they don't hold up to weather well and react badly with cedar (imagine rust streaks pouring out of screw holes). I made a point of buying some proper stainless screws separately (The Hillman Group 44378 10 x 1-1/2-Inch Black Pan Head Phillips Sheet Metal Screw, Stainless Steel, 15-Pack); I'm still contemplating replacing the hinge plate screws as well.
