I'm not normally a fan of stories that flip back and forth from present to past, but in the context of this story this works well as each flip to the past helps build memories of Noah and Clark as the meet and fall for each other. Those memories are doled out slowly while we see the two men interacting present-day as Noah and Clark are together again...and it's that "again" aspect that provides the uncertainty as readers know there is more to the story, though we're not sure what happened until near the end.
Clark has always had a protective, caring streak for Noah right from the moment the two meet when Clark is 17 and Noah is 13. This continues to build over time, and is still evident when Clark comes to Noah in the hospital-even though it is quite clear to the reader that their relationship is not at the place Noah thinks it is when he finally awakens after the accident. The unsure feelings this provoked in me had me totally drawn in to the story as I was desperate to know what the REAL story between the two of them is present day.
While I wasn't too thrilled with what Noah had done 3 years prior (the part he doesn't remember until near the end), the final resolution made up for it...mostly. It still made me want to slap him silly for the reasoning behind what he did (sorry, can't tell you more as it would spoil it for you). Suffice it to say that this did cause me to remove a full star from my rating-which says a lot since this was a 4-star read for me.
For the narration, Alexander Collins does a terrific job at voicing the characters, and the warm tone of his voice made the story soothing to listen to for the majority of the story.
I'd recommend this story to M/M romance fans 18+ for adult language and M/M sexual content.
Clark has yet to even think about his sexuality when he first encounters Noah, who immediately labels Clark his Angel. Thus begins a roller coaster ride of persistence and resistance; ending in, well, that is better left for you to discover for yourself.
If this is your first read from Cardeno C. then be prepared for complete absorption into the characters and their lives. You'll discover what love really is and was always meant to be ... Oh, you thought I was going to tell you what that is? Not! Find out on your own, it's much more fun. If, on the other hand, you have read this author before, then you already know that you are about to be mesmerized.
Being entertained is not an option here, it's a Given! Enjoy!

After Noah wakes in hospital he can't remember the last 3 years. However he does remember the tremendous love he has for Clark and is sure that Clark will always be there for him. The story alternates from the present to the past so we learn how Noah and Clark first met and fell in love. From a young age they always knew they were meant for each other. "That's because I do belong to you. Always have. Always will, angel."
Noah's past was troubled and he was younger than Clark. Clark spent 4 years waiting for Noah to grow up and Noah has been and will be the only man for him. Noah feels exactly the same way about Clark. However something happens that leads to the events of the last 3 years, something that Noah doesn't want to remember, causing his memory loss.
The chemistry between the couple is obvious in the love they share and the physical attraction, with the book containing some tender romantic moments, combined with humour and passionate sex. "I got up and adjusted my hard (insert naughty word here). Hey, naked Clark, remember? Front and back view. That's like a recipe for insta-hard-on, no additional ingredients necessary."
As the story unfolds, it is clear that Noah and Clark share a true, undying love. The end of the books contains some beautiful lines as Clark explains what he sees in Noah.
"A guy who stands tall and proud when he faces the world, but falls to his knees when he's facing me." "A guy who hasn't needed anything from his parents or anyone else since before he was a teenager, but who needs everything from me and has from day one." "A guy who hasn't ever cared what anyone else thinks, but hangs on my every word."
