A dash of spice.
A cowboy and a pastry chef...
A recipe of naughty and nice.
Spending the holidays with her brother after hitting a crossroads in her career, Rachel Murphy keeps her dream of owning a pastry shop alive by creating custom gingerbread houses for clients in a small Montana town. And her Christmas wish list keeps growing this year—a bigger kitchen, a family, a place to call home...and maybe someone to share it all with.
When handsome dude ranch owner Nate Vaughn grants one of Rachel's Christmas wishes—offering her a workspace of her own—she can't refuse. As they grow closer, Rachel and Nate find more than pastries heating up in the kitchen. Is mixing business with affairs of the heart a recipe for disaster? Or will all of Rachel's wishes come true?

From the Author
I'm thrilled to share Home For Christmas with you. There's also a short story I've written called Mistletoe Magic that's a companion piece. It's set during the same time period, but features a different couple. Both are stand-alone.
Because the novella is part of the Montana Born Books imprint, I knew the hero needed to be acowboy. Nate's more of a rancher these days running the Bar V5 duderanch, but in my mind once a cowboy always a cowboy. My heroine RachelMurphy agrees which is why she wants to stay far, far away from him. Now if it was me, I'd be wanting to cook up something a little spicier than gingerbread in Nate's gourmet kitchen! Though I do have a sweet tooth. But I understand, Rachel was burned by a celebrity chef. She's wary, cautious. A good thing Nate has the idea to hang mistletoe otherwise this nearly novella might have been a lot longer!
I hope thesnowy Montana setting and holiday baking puts you in Christmas mood!Grab a cup of cocoa, a cookie, a blanket and enjoy! If you'd like to keep up with Rachel and Nate and the others at the Bar V5 check out the entire series.

Rachel Murphy longs for home and family. Since childhood, she's dreamed ofowning her own pastry shop, but after being burned by a celebrity chefand losing her lease in Arizona, Rachel's spending the holidays with her brother in Montana. To keep her dream alive, she's creating customgingerbread houses and selling them around town. All she needs is abigger kitchen...and to stay away from her brother's handsome boss.
Former venture capitalist Nate Vaughn has embraced his inner cowboy and nowruns a successful dude ranch where Rachel's brother works. Nate'scommercial kitchen is perfect for Rachel's baking needs, and seeing thecute blonde's business acumen, Nate knows she'd be the perfect partnerfor a new business. When he makes her an offer she can't refuse, hediscovers he's interested in more than her gingerbread.
WhileNate could make her dreams come true, Rachel's heart, as well as herhead, tells her mixing business with anything else could be a recipe for disaster. Should she return to Arizona, and leave Nate and her neweager-for-more customers behind? Or can Nate convince her that, herewith him in the mountains of Montana, she's already home? ForChristmas...forever.

She’s come to spend Christmas with her brother, Ty at the Bar V5 Ranch for two reasons. Most importantly is they’re the only family they have left and to not spend Christmas with her brother is just… unthinkable. The second is her make or break career move which will involve using the ranch’s fully equipped kitchen for her gingerbread creations. She may have been played for a fool once – but never, ever again. She’ll stand on her own two feet, make her dream come true without any help from any one. Period, end of discussion.
Yet Rachel hadn’t counted on one smart, sexy rancher with some savvy marketing ideas to change that rule. Falling in love had never been part of her equation.
Nate knows what it’s like to lose or almost lose a dream. He’s been there, done that and survived. It doesn’t help matters that he’s really attracted to Rachel, but he also knows the rules – stay away from your business partner’s sister. Too bad he can’t convince his heart to follow that advise. Soon all he’s thinking of are ways to help Rachel with her business and keeping her here in Marietta to explore something more personally emotional between them. Trouble is, Nate set about winning Rachel with a business plan and spreadsheets. If he was going to win his lady’s heart he’d better come up with a more realistic plan.
I had such fun with Home For Christmas. Two extremely stubborn people, a woman who refuses to trust again and a man who, with the best of intentions, does everything wrong. They both learned a few lessons in getting Rachel’s gingerbread related business up and off to a great start. Probably the most important ones were being yourself and allowing trust to speak to your heart. Nate will make more than a few missteps along the way, and Rachel will not make it easy for him once he’s floundered… but they have that spark that says “yeah, you’re the one but I’m scared” and that gets me in the emotions every single time.
If you have a love for Christmas Romance, then Home For Christmas will certainly touch your heart. Lively characters, a down home small town, a story that could happen to anyone and you’ve got a winning combination. I’d recommend this story, and the entire series, which is full of Christmas Romance in 4 out of the 5 books in the series. Hard to beat that.
For those interested:
There is NO sex in this book and no bad language.
Naturally she falls for Nate and he breaks her heart! SPOILER -- He seemed a little oblivious for a guy that is wanting to get her to stay for him. I don't really get people that fall for someone but won't just tell them. Both were doing this to the point of wanting to slam their heads together. When he finally makes a big play to win her he goes to this elaborate scheme to win her over when all he had to do was tell her that he loved her and wanted to marry her. Simple!
It was a very squeaky clean (meaning no sex), easy read book. I really believe any age could read this story. I would recommend it to readers that are looking for a light read to pass a lazy day.
No one paid me for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. The thoughts are just that - of a reader, nothing more, nothing less.
