I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and in fact am going to be purchasing additional copies as gifts! The pictures are great and the descriptions are informative and entertaining.

I was amazed at the number of "talented Detroiters" listed in the book. Born and raised in Detroit and the suburbs I felt a strong connection to the contents, as no matter how far I travel my roots are always in Detroit.

Home in Detroit is a fun little book but with a limited appeal. I'm not sure what demographic this book is targeted at other than a Detroit-o-phile!

There is a small photo of each subject along with a very brief history of their career/time in Detroit followed by a handsome full color photo of the residence they lived at complete with street address! Very handy if you want to do your own tour...there's even a map in the center of the book showing where each house is in approximation to each other!

However, it's the selection of people that dilutes the appeal to a wide range ~ there are some sports figures, entertainers, people involved in politics, some folks of historical note and many I had never even heard of. For example, I am lucky enough to live in the Boston/Edison neighborhood where some of the notables from the past had large homes; yet so many have been left out!

This book is cute & definitely a conversation starter for those interested in Detroit, for people who lived in the featured neighborhoods and those curious to see where many of these folks had their start!
