The Home Distiller's Workbook: Your Guide to Making Moonshine, Whisky, Vodka, Rum and So Much More! Vol. 1 Paperback – February 22, 2012

Purchase options and add-ons

Moonshine! A word that evokes images of America’s outlaw heritage. Making moonshine has been such a huge part of our culture that many historians credit it as one of the cornerstones of our nations foundations. How to make moonshine? Is quite likely the very question that brought you here. A yearning to learn the traditions that are in danger of being forgotten in the modern, digital era.I wrote this book to pass along the knowledge that was taught to me in the hills of Kentucky over 30 years ago. Along the way though I developed my own style. I boiled down what I learned and created a simplified style that any beginner can follow. I’ve developed designs that can be used right in the comfort of you own kitchen or out back in the woods! The truth is that Moonshining, aka “Home Distilling” is a folk art that helped build this country. Together we can make it live again, and have a little fun in the process! And a quick thank you to all my readers who have helped make The Home Distiller the best selling book ever on the art and science of making moonshine.Shine On!

About the Author

Jeff King was born in Heidelberg Germany in 1969. His father was shortly thereafter discharged from the Army and the family moved back to the Midwest where Jeff spent his early years attempting to recreate Huck Finn's aquatic adventures . This was just the beginning of Jeff's passion for travel and adventure! He has lived and traveled all over the US and abroad with a current tally of 42 states and 24 countries. Jeff has also sailed in two oceans, two seas and one gulf. Not the kind of person to stay in one place too long Jeff's wanderlust has also lead to a multitude of careers. A true entrepreneur Jeff has lead business endeavors that include importing Art from Bali, Running a Video Game studio, PR for a top Silicon Valley marketing firm and even a brief run for local office as well as starting over half a dozen other small businesses, some successful and others that were more of a, well, "learning experience". But it's what he does when he's not in the office that really makes for an exciting tale. If there is a sense of adventure or uncharted waters ahead you can be sure that he is the first to sign up. From learning the art of Moonshining in the hills of Kentucky to getting lost in the jungles of Central America, fly fishing the Yellowstone river in Montana, white water rafting in the Sierra's or even single handing a sloop through the islands of the Caribbean.

Today Jeff can be found as "DaBear" on his YouTube Channel, The Den of Tools.

But it's what he does when he's not in the office that really makes for an exciting tale. If there is a sense of adventure or uncharted waters ahead you can be sure that he is the first to sign up. From learning the art of Moonshining in the hills of Kentucky to getting lost in the jungles of Central America, fly fishing the Yellowstone River in Montana, white water rafting in the Sierra's or even single-handing a sloop through the islands of the Caribbean. You will read about some of these tales and even more in his first book, The Home Distiller's Workbook. Part "How To" book with a good bit of storytelling thrown in, the Home Distiller's Workbook is an enjoyable read and a thorough instruction manual all rolled into one.
