I have read many, many of Melody Carlson's books. She is a great writer and I have enjoyed every book of hers that I have read.
Dee has acquired guardianship of a wonderful eight year old girl whom she loves dearly. Mabel is the light of her life. Her focus is more about how to be a good mother than how to find a husband.
The story is character driven and very much about friendships and relationships. There is no objectionable sex, language or violence in this book. It's a feel good book that is a quick read. The fourth and final book in this series is due April, 2016. I'm looking forward to reading how or if Daphne, Mabel and Jake will become a family.
If you haven't read the first two you might want to, they are great, and really give you the backstory on what is happening now.
Daphne is still on the hunt of a husband but I love that she isn't willing to settle for just any guy. She is confused but one thing she isn't confused about is the love she has for Mable, that little girl has captured her heart.
Melody does a great jog of keeping the reader in total limbo about what man Daphne should and will end up with, I felt as confused as Daphne.
It was great meeting up with these characters again around Christmas time!
The downside is it's being extended far too long. The end is predictable by now.
Uniquely interesting is how the main character Daphne seem to answer her own problematic questions as she answers questions of readers of her newspaper column. I am looking forward to reading the fourth installment of this series.
