When Earth is taken over by the overly-confident Boov, an alien race in search of a new place to call home, all humans are promptly relocated, while all Boov get busy reorganizing the planet. But when one resourceful girl, Tip (Rihanna), manages to avoid capture, she finds herself the accidental accomplice of a banished Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons). The two fugitives realize there's a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime.

What I feel was missing was more of an explicit message about what we can do to stop this abuse and barely a mention of population as central to the problem. How does our ecology keep going when the population triples every 60 or so years?!?!
I wish the stunning aerial visuals and important message were better paced with more lively narration and music. I found my attention drifting several times during my viewing. The subdued tone of the narration and the music interacted in a almost hypnotic way that had me nodding off at points. The music for a good part of the movie (by Amand Amar) felt reminiscent of Philip Glass.
Don't get me wrong! I liked this movie a lot, but I could not just sit and watch it start to finish. I had to stop it twice and go do something to else before coming back to it. I'm happy I got all the way through and hope the problems I had watching it do not detract others from seeing the message
Earth (2009) is a beautifully filmed movie with a very important message that is made clear.. I think the modulation of the narration, pace and music could be improved. These issues could be as much with me as the movie so I'm giving it 4 stars.
This one tells you what is going on and the causes. It does not tell you in your face what you can do to improve. I will tell you: Stop consuming things you do not need. "Be the change".
This movie is appropriate for all ages. Really little ones may not fully understand the story-line, however the bright colors, Funny Faces, and silly things that always seem to happen will be sure to keep them entertained. For the older kids and the adults it has a really good message behind it. I would encourage anyone looking for a movie for Family night look into this one.
