Once assembled, it is really a great piece of outdoor furniture. The wood is a beautiful rich color (a bit darker than the picture in the listing) with a great finish. The door, shelves and drawer all work well; the adjustable shelving makes it easy to customize for your own use, and there is quite a lot of room for storage.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the ease of assembly and the high quality of this product. It definitely looks like a much more expensive piece than it is.
It is well-worth the price and more. This is a great deal for a really fabulous outdoor serving bar. I would recommend it without question.
The instructions mention a "Replacement Part Policy" for missing or damaged hardware - nothing about a warranty for the box as a whole. I contacted the Manufacturer (Home Styles) and they were completely unwilling to help. They even stated that you shouldn't apply anything to the wood other than hot soapy water. Well, funny thing that the instructions say otherwise - it specifies using an acid based cleaner and applying regular coatings of oil. This company has no clue.
This box is cheaply made, with wood that is entirely too thin. Previous to this box, I purchased a different brand Teak deck box from Costco, about 10 years ago, and at one-third the cost. It held up well, never having any problems like this. This box is entirely too expensive to have these issues. Look elsewhere!
In my stool several of the holes in the horizontal parts joining the left and right uprights together weren't drilled correctly and so the metal hardware didn't want to line up to be tightened without a lot of effort. The assembly tool provided is a small diameter allen wrench with a straight and right angle end. They also give you a short straight allen key in case you want to use a different hand or even power tool to assemble the stool.
Up the left and right sides of the stool starting at the bottom, the head of the screw which the allen wrench goes into is exposed along the outside of the leg and not recessed into the wood, by design. As long as the parts line up, it's not too bad to put those screws in since you can rotate the allen wrench a full 360 degrees. However the four screws securing the back of the stool to the left and right side uprights are inexplicably concealed inside of the back, so that you can only twist the allen wrench about a quarter of a turn at a time before you hit something. To add insult to injury, those four screws are recessed into predrilled holes by about 1/4" which makes the final few twists of the allen wrench nearly impossible with so little space and torque to work with. Those four bolts might as well have been on the outside of the uprights just like the ones below it and it wouldn't have affected the 'look' of the stool one bit. That would have shaved about 20 minutes off the assembly time.
The stool is a stool, nothing special. I needed something sturdy of a certain height to sit on in the kitchen while I worked, due to an injury.
Packaging: one half of the cardboard box has styrofoam strips hot-glued inside it as shipping protection. If your local recycling program accepts mixed cardboard and styrofoam, great. If not, be prepared to bring out a vacuum cleaner when you try to separate the styrofoam. It's the type that breaks easily into small chunks which cling to everything.
Holding up well (see above)
True bar height
Requires assembly but if you can change a light bulb this should be a piece of cake (they even include the tool).
