Dani's reunion caused quite an uproar with some characters. Tijan introduced an array of characters that was challenging to keep track of. Not to mention all the gossip that followed with each introduction. Tijan got carried away with the idle chit chat between characters.
“I said a little about some stuff and nothing about a lot.” This quote about summed up the entire story. I felt like I learned nothing while the characters rambled on about nonsense.
I am so lost and confused with these random conversations with old friends reuniting with one another and reminiscing over the past. Then the flooding. The metaphors for flooding. WTF.
Dani was a hot mess. Dani found love with Jake but then ran away from it. Then she found love with Boone and once again got spooked and ran away. Dani suffered a fear of getting too close to people.
Once the secrets revealed themselves it seemed history continued to repeat itself. An endless loop of lies and secrets of men who fathered children yet never claimed them.
"Dani left feeling more confused than when she arrived." This quote explained exactly how I felt at the moment. Reading this story was confusing. It was anti-climatic even after discovering the secrets.
Famous last words, "do you want to talk about it?" Answer, "no". Or I'll tell you more later now is not the time. I grew bored and tired of this dialogue. Nothing good happened while waiting to unravel secrets.
Jonah sparked the fight back into Dani. Dani wanted to find herself away from all the family turmoil.
I could not identify with Dani. In fact, I struggled to understand what was so appealing about Dani that caused three guys to fall in love with her. It took leaving town and returning for Dani to recognize that the secrets and mistakes of the past were what caused her family to drift apart.
First, having a guy date 3 sisters is just ick.
Second, expecting Dani, who got dumped for her younger sister and then whose older sister is now engaged to the same guy who dumped her and was with her younger sister, to be sorry she left town is also, ick.
Third, not really sure why the main guy is supposed to be so great? He seems average compared to a typical Tijan hero. He has no history with Dani and is kind of boring. More interesting is her ex fiancée, Boone.
I would have much preferred Boone to come back, find Dani, be endgame, and for Dani to get apologized to by her horrible family.
All in all this was really not a good read. Did not finish.
Home Tears is jam packed with surreptitious affairs, drama and heartbreak. Although, there was a love story, I felt like that wasn't really the main focus of this story. We were on a path of discovery with Danni as she came running back home after being gone for a decade. Her welcome home was some what gut wrenching.
Danni comes from a family that is crazy, literally. They had so many secrets that of these women tried to hide and bury. Home Tears is as complex as it is enjoyable. Once I opened I was unable to put it. Watching Danni transform from a shell of a person to a strong willed woman, thanks in part to Jonah was completely enjoyable.
" 'I'm messed up when it comes to guys.'... Jonah took her hand and entwined their fingers. 'You've just got some of the pieces messed up. That's all.' "
Home Tears is a story jammed packed with drama and will keep you engaged until the end.

Jonah on the other hand.. has my heart.
The pages turned constantly as the storyline was so captivating and emotional.
I loved this but I really felt sorry for boone, I understand why but that was the only time I got annoyed at dani. It was surprisingly gripping and obviously written with tenderness and love. Definitely worth reading.
