Keep checking, they usually change the price several times, and if you pre-order now and the price drops before it's shipped, you get if for the lower price. There's another popular place where you can pre-order and right now it's $9.42.
Il Volo's weren't available until yesterday, the day the CD was released and I think that's how it was last year for Susan too. Kelly's aren't there yet either, but Johnny Mathis's are, so there's no rhyme or reason to the way they handle the samples. The constant price changes are hard to figure out too. Kelly's was dropped again to $9.99.
Ah, well, if il Volo's weren't available until the day of release, then probably that is what will happen with Susan's album, too. I don't remember how things went last year, but it seems to me that I remember hearing at least one or two tracks prior to the album release. ?? One year AOL had the entire album available for listening a day or so before release, too. Each time seems to be a little different!
I'll have to pop into iTunes and listen to the il Volo track samples. I like them and have two of their albums already.
I think they had a listening party for Susan's last year too. Remember # susanalbumparty? LOL. And I know that we definitely had the 90 second itunes samples early because I put them on my ipod. But the Amazon samples came very late in the game.
Oh, right, I remember that now! Yep, that infamous " # susananlbumparty"!!!!! And I do remember tht we somehow got samples early because I had them in the computer for a while and then not too long ago when I was tidying things up in my iTunes library I cleared them out since I of course now have the album itself.
Samples of the tracks are available. Just click the album cover on the right side of this page. On the next page displayed choose and click the track button at the beginning of each track listing. Sounds great
I keep forgetting that some people don't yet have access to the actual album. Having had it for several days now myself, it seems odd to think that friends across the Big Pond haven't yet heard it in its entirety.
My favorite artist has, yet again, released a CD for the Christmas rush. She's such a treat with a corncob pipe, a button nose, and two eyes made out of coal. I must listen. I am sure that, this time, there will be peppy versions of cherished holiday tunes. Can't wait!
I am absolutely loving this album. So many Christmas songs that aren't as commonly heard each year. The arrangements, the background singers, the instruments...all enhance this artist's outstanding voice.
For some reason, I feel curiously neutral about this album. It doesn't excite me, nor does it dismay me. It's nice -- no more, no less. I'm not going to bother writing a review, but if I were to give it a ranking, I'd probably go with 4 stars. There are no really outstanding tracks that I absolutely love on here, none that I've put on "repeat" and listened to over-and-over, which is unusual for me. There is only one track that I actively dislike, and that's the Elvis "duet." I like the one with Johnny Mathis much better. Probably my favorite song on the album is the intriguing and interesting "I Believe in Father Christmas." I rather like the unusual approach to "Little Drummer Boy," with the bagpipes, too.
Clix - I just don't understand how you could be neutral about this c.d. Susan has grown and exceeded all expectations. In fact, most reviews put this as the best holiday music in decades! Giving it only 4 stars is a great injustice. I would give it a 10 if the ratings went up that high. Listen to it again. I am sure you'll be totally won over.
