In-game Voice Chat with Built-in Mic
In-game voice chat is supported through the built-in mic. The built-in mic can be toggled On/Off by pressing the P1 button when the adapter is paired with a headphones.
The built-in mic has an effective operating range of 4 ft or less, its main purpose is for in-game voice chat in handheld mode. It will not be practical for docked mode operation as the user will most likely be more than 4 ft away from the adapter.
Under normal usage, Bluetooth headphones is only used for receiving audio from the Switch, mic on the Bluetooth headphones is not enabled by default. If you intend to do in-game voice chat in docked mode, there is a beta feature, HFP mode, that allows voice chat through the headphones mic.
In-game Voice Chat with Headphones Mic (HFP Mode)
1) Turn on the Switch and go to the Home menu.
2) Press and hold the right button (P2) while inserting the adapter into the Switch.
3) Keep holding the right button until the LEDs light up after inserting the adapter.
4) Connect with headphones as normal.
Once HFP mode is enabled and adapter is connected with headphones:
1) You can still press P1 to toggle the built-in mic. P1 LED Solid Amber indicates built-in mic is On, P1 LED Solid Green indicates built-in mic is Off.
Or
2) You can press the Play/Pause button on the headphones to toggle the headphones mic. P1 LED Flashing Amber indicates headphones mic is On, P1 LED Solid Green indicates headphones mic is Off.
HFP mode will be disabled automatically once the adapter is unplugged from the Switch or when the Switch goes into Sleep/Off mode.
Note: HFP mode is still in beta and it doesn't work with every Bluetooth headphones on the market. In addition, audio quality is degraded when headphones mic is turned On.

It also includes the Mic adapter and the dock adapter!
It also works great when connected to the dock!
Included is a little pouch to help keep everything together when not in use. This is a very nice touch!
The product feels high quality and can be plugged into the Switch in either direction, so buttons can face away.
A must buy for those who own bluetooth headphones!

So I found this adapter, which came highly recommended from some connections. After about a week of usage, I couldn't be happier with the product. It was very easy to connect to my headphones, the sound is great, no noticeable lag and it comes with some extra accessories I didn't see myself using until I had them. The instructions that came with the box was pretty straightforward, simply plug in the device, power on your switch, push and hold a button and pair! Included with the box came a travel pouch (very convenient), a microphone that plugs into the headphone port for voice chat capability and a USB adapter for when you want to use your headphones while the Switch is docked.
Now some things I would point out comes down to the type of headphones you have, and making sure you do your research. In order to reduce the amount of audio lag, you'll want to make sure that your headphones are aptX or aptX LL capable. If not, then you'll experience some really bad lag. I used this product on three separate headphones and two of them have aptX codecs, so they worked perfectly fine. The third pair of headphones did not have aptX and the lag was definitely noticeable. So if you have older headphones, chances are they are not aptX capable.
Outside of BT technology limitations, the only "actual" negative about the product that I could find is that I couldn't use the kickstand on the Switch when this was plugged in. Sometimes I like to lay on the floor with the Joy Con Grip to play games, but you'll need to prop it against something.......not a big issue but I could see others running to this as well, especially those that travel on airplanes.
Overall, for only $40 it's a great solution to something Nintendo should've included from the start and I'm very happy with the results. I highly recommend this adapter for anyone wanting a wireless solution for their Switch.

Update: after owning this thing for a week I still think it's the fantastic. I just want to point out though that it would not be a good idea to use this with a case on, even though as I pointed out above that it does work. The reason is that the HomeSpot can fall out easily, especially when the switch vibrates. So, take off your case or use tape to hold it in place if you decide to do this. It would be great if there were a custom case that allotted space for this.

Update, I purchased the Guli pro instead of this and it works well. I compared the two devices and found the difference. Homespot only supports 3 latest Bluetooth protocols which is not enough to cover all the Bluetooth device. That may be the reason why it did not work with my headset which was purchased 5-6 years ago.
Fortunately it works like a charm and the sound quality is cracking with my wireless headphones and very easy to pair so all good.
Just to note because it did not occur to me when I bought it that there are little bumps on the bottom that stop it working with the Switch Lite as shown in the photo.

Original April 2019 review below
Was really looking forward to this arriving, but wouldn’t get out of pairing mode and the usb headphone sign on the switch kept switching on and off and sound on the speakers cutting in and out, tried all the instructions and all Bluetooth headphones in the house, from AirPods to cheap in ear Bluetooth headphones or even my Sony over the ear pair - seems to be faulty, last 2 reviewers also seem to have experienced this
PROS:
+Built in mic
+Latest Bluetooth standard
+Support for aptX and aptX LL
+Slim profile
+Good customer support (I'm told)
+Simple but effective and easy to use design
CONS:
-No USB pass through (although adding this could have also added extra bulk)
-A little expensive for what it is
-Doesn't turn off when switch is turned off while docked (not sure if this is possible to fix)
-Using bundled USB C adapter in docked mode will block the other USB port on the dock (but you can fix this by buying a U-shaped or cabled adapter)
Overall very happy and would highly recommend if you want to use Bluetooth headphones with your Switch (still not sure why Nintendo didn't include this feature).
But one the main let downs of the console is lack of Bluetooth connection to my headphones.
I would have loved to have been given the options to have either a wired or wireless connection.
To solve the problem a number of companies have released Bluetooth adapters, and after some research, I decided to try out the Homeport Bluetooth Adapter for Switch. Heres my review.
Fast delivery from Germany.
Like BMW and Mercedes, the build quality is very high, the plastic matching with the black of the Nintendo switch.
As you can see from the photos I purchase the sporty blue/red version. Standard business grey is also available.
Instructions to Pair are clear and they are currently paired with my Sony noise cancelling headset.
The sound is good and without delay. As I've only had the unit for 24 hours I haven't had the opportunity to test the power drain.
Comes with microphone headphone jack and USB-c to USB converter, which allows you to have wireless voice and connection to the dock if needed. Homespot also provides a cloth/padded mini bag which can be used to carry all three things. It can be closed using the velcro
The unit itself sits very well with the console and doesn't add any noticeable addition weight.
Three things which I would like to critique:
1. I had modified my hard case to allow this unit to be attached to the console. It also means it slightly stretches the carry case i story my switch in. Some users with smaller cases/hard cases might have to remove the unit.
2. The mini carry bag is the only thing that seems a little cheap. Maybe a leather one with embossed homespot? (personally subjective)
3. As the USB-c port is used up when the adapter is plugged in, you can't use a power bank or charger at the same time with it in.
Great wireless sound for the console that I love.
