-Unit must not be powered by any internal battery, but must turn on and off with the vehicle. (this wont work in all cars because some cars keep the power supply on all the time, in my case, my smart car has a built in USB port that turns on and off along with the ignition)
-Device must auto reconnect when powered on (ive read reviews where some customers had to have their bt on the phone on before the unit powers on, or the unit would not connect. to them I say "your phone must be old or broken" with bt 4.0 there should be no connection issues, and it is not a problem with my set up, the device connects 1st try every time regardless of bt status on my phone.
-Device must run on 500mA power supply. (the device comes with a 1000mA supply, but i didn't want to use it, the supply in my glove box where i installed this is 500mA so i wanted it to run at that supply power, and it does.
On top of this, there is no ground noise in the system at all, This may be a product of a my using a factory radio with a factory installed USB power supply, and aux input. There is 0 ground noise, and i actually think it sounds better than the phone hardwired to the car.. This is easily the BEST Bluetooth device ive ever purchased.
My specific criticism is that it doesn't usually reconnect automatically when my car turns on. This doesn't matter to me, as I have to unlock my phone and start my music anyway, but I'd prefer if I didn't have to. This may or may not be specific to my phone.
Yesterday afternoon, I went out to my vehicle. To my surprise, I found the entire pad had started to melt. I spent 20 minutes pulling the pad off my dash and cleaning the leftover residue. After that point, I had trashed the pad. If you live in an area like Oklahoma or Texas where the inside of your car can reach ultra high temperatures, I would stay away from this pad.
Now, at first the audio coming from this was tinny and weak, especially in the bass... So much so at times that I suspected a bad connection. The 3.5mm audio chord that the device came with was fully seated, but wiggling it a little actually improved the audio quality, and it had no issues at all after changing to my nice audio cable. It's actually so good I can't really tell the difference between wired and wireless, so I'm loving this. My audio jack is in a weird place on my car (in the storage spot in the driver's armrest) and having this cleans up the clutter really well and has great sound.
So yea...great device, but came with a junk 3.5mm audio cord (hence the loss of a star) , so make sure you have your own.
