Homecoming is a classic tale of reunited lovers. Gray and Lydia were young sweethearts until a cheating scandal broke them apart and sent Lydia running from their small town. Fast forward 15 years later and they meet again while Lydia is on her way back home to Detroit to visit her mother. Both are unattached, and she is still as wary as ever, after the deceit from many years ago and a recent breakup. Gray is remorseful and has struggled with what he did for many years. Seeing Lydia, after all of this time, is a blessing and he knows without a doubt that he wants to keep Lydia in his life forever. Will Lydia let him?
Homecoming was a super short read, so unfortunately, we didn’t get any of the rich history that we’re so accustomed to from a Jenkins novel. It delivered on the romance though and in the short period of time, I was able to see, if only a little glimpse, of how much these characters cared for one another. I’m selfish so of course I wished it could have been longer. I would have loved to learn more about each character’s backstory, but I really can’t complain since I knew it was a novella before I clicked buy.
I typically don’t review novellas because they’re so short. There’s only so much you can say. Honestly speaking, I really just wanted to stan for Beverly Jenkins. This novella does have me excited for her new novel, Forbidden, which will be released in January.

This story was about two people separated by hurt finally find there way back to a love that was never wavered by time. A love that was lost but not forgotten. A connection that was so strong when it feels the other part of it, it reunites with such familiarity it combust. True love never dies! This story is backdropped during the cold season of Christmas but it will warm your heart. I love all of Beverly Jenkins books and this one was great just like all the others, great character development and rich history.

I thoroughly enjoyed Homecoming. Beverly Jenkins is a phonomenal writer who transports you right to the place, and time of her books. I love the way she adds peices of African American history in each of novels. The characters jump off of the pages and I feel like I am a part of each scene until my doorbell, or my telephone rings. I actually read and collect hard copies of all of Beverly's historical romances. Beverly has inspired me to dust off a chapter of manuscript that I did not complete some years ago. Thank you Beverly! Amazon please continue to make her books available on Kindle. Can't wait for the next one! Keep them coming Beverly!

This was a lovely second-chance romance. It had lots of the things we've come to know and love from Beverly Jenkins: a hot hero, a self-reliant heroine, and meddlesome family members. I liked that the major thing this couple had to get over were their trust issues; each felt -- and was -- abandoned by the other. I've lately noticed that Jenkins has used the parents of her main characters as secondary romances (the Destiny series and the Blessings series, although you might be able to argue that the older characters' romance is the primary one in Blessings). This is really nice to see and I hope that she can give us a novella or a novel sometime entirely focused on a mature romance. Back to Homecoming: It's a darling read. Enjoy!

Heartwarming read that shows how the love of someone can reach beyond years and still be as strong as ever. Circumstances can tear lovers apart but if it is meant to be then it will happen. Lydia had no idea that she would ever see Grayson once she decided to return home. Fate stepped in and the two met again after being apart for years. Sparks rekindle and love is reborn for the two leading to their happily every after. I loved Homecoming and it will be one of my re-reads more than once.

Beverly Jenkins can flat out write, but her historical romances are where she really shines, IMHO. What's better than getting a wonderful, passionate love story and a history lesson all in one? Nobody does it better, than our dear Ms. Bev! This is a novella, so I tried to read it slow, so I could savor it, but Ms. Bev has a way of drawing you in from the first page that makes it virtually impossible for me to read her books slowly.
Can't wait to read Forbidden! Come on January!!!

Excellent story line and Lydia and Dane were believable characters who got a second chance at love. I wish it played out more. I enjoyed this story. Thanks

I love all of B.J.'s books, this was no exception, but can somebody tell me, what just happened? I'm reading a great storyline and all of a sudden, I'm rushed to the end of the story. It was as if, someone said the book needs to be finished today and bam, it's over abruptly. I realized that this was a short story but I didn't expect such a quick leap to the end. I find it disappointing. For that reason, I rate it a 3.
