But having been disappointed by the conclusions of series twice in the last 7 years, I was wary. "It's not really about what I think it's about." I thought. "I'll spend time reading the whole thing & he'll forget all about what that title sounded like. At least it won't take 30 or even 5 years."
What disappointments made me so cynical? The conclusion to THE DARK TOWER by Stephen King, which took 30 years, and the conclusion to LOST, which took 5.
But the HOMELANDERS series by Andrew Klavan did not disappoint me.
It wasn't until book 3 that I knew it was either science fiction or science fact. It was in pharmaceuticals, a field where fiction & fact keep chasing each other, so it was hard to know.
It wasn't until the final book that I was sure it was science fiction.
So if you like sci-fi there's a good chance you will like this.
This series is packed with action and suspense, and the action sequences are just stunning. I don't think you'll be able to figure out what's going to happen. At least I couldn't, and I tried. (Still I read more sci-fi than I do action/suspense, so if you read a lot of this sort of thing, maybe you'll do better than I did.)
So what were its flaws?
There are basically two.
1. The narration falters at times. I thought some of the ordinary story-telling narration, the stuff we readers rely on to make the story real, didn't quite work. When describing the girl he is falling in love with, narrator Charlie makes way too much use of the incurably lame word "nice."

It is really good to find a book with characters that stand up for what is right. This is taking place in our current time and is (sadly) all to real in terms of what is happening in our nation. So here is one kid who has an appreciation for our Constitution, for freedom, decency, etc. Young people can learn from this guy.
I already own this series, I actually bought this copy for a friend (she loves it!)! I couldn't pass up the opportunity to say how much I love this series. As I type this, I want to re-read it again! I've lost track of how many times I've read it... :)

Very well written. Keep my interest. However I would not recommend reading all the books in a row. Too much of the same thing.Published 7 days ago by Amazon Customer
To say these characters were made of cardboard would be to give them too much depth. The main character is a classic Gary Stu: karate black belt, extremely Christian, good in... Read morePublished 7 months ago by Mary

While being a good read, no one ever would have survived any such ordeal. How he survived some of these ordeals is beyond me.
Enjoyable story. Predictable outcome, but a good read. The story flows quickly.Published 12 months ago by Christopher Strain
