Top Customer Reviews
However, due to the quantity of trees versus people who could clean up the yards, I chose to do the work myself. That necessitated buying a chain saw. And, being the cheapskate I am, I decided to got for the least cost saw, which worked out nice since I had just weeks ago purchased a 100 foot long heavy duty outdoor extension cord.
Had no expectation that I'd have to assemble the saw, but, because the operating instructions were clear, concise, and thorough, I assembled the saw in less than an hour -which, for me, is lickety split ferociously fast. Honest, I am not a mechanic even on my best day.
Went out and started cutting the old oak tree into fire wood.
By the way, the instructions do a good job warning users of kick back and it's causes. However, the manual could show actual photographs of the assembly of the chain onto the supporting blade, and of the cover plate at the tensioning handles.
I do suggest that the manufacturer (or the supplier, as applicable) provide safety eyeglasses with side shields. I happened to possess a pair, but I am confident other users will proceed without any eye protection.
I am glad I took the chance and bought this saw.
It was my fist chainsaw gas or electric.
It stop cutting after I cut few branches.
It took half an hour to cut 3 branches smaller than 5" dia.
I watched and leaned from youtube, asked professionals who came to take down neighbor's tree, filed chain and adjusted height, did anything to try to make it work but failed.
I thought chain was moving wrong direction and checked it many times.
It was so bad experience.
It took half day to make just few fire logs.
My wife used to laugh at me as "You should use hand saw, it's quicker !!"
I told myself that maybe because it was cheap small electric chainsaw.
Now my 4years old poulan had cracked on plastic frame because I kept giving it too much force.
I was going to buy gas or bigger (18" maybe) high powered electric.
Then I read all your reviews here.
Took down whole tree ? took only hour to make pile of logs ?
I thought " Com'n ! it should be 3 days project with 14" electric chainsaw with I experienced"
I decided to gave 2nd chance to 14" electric.
I couldn't believe what I see with this HOMELITE !
It took 5 second to cut 5" branch to fire log.
It was 5 minutes with my old Poulan.
I don't know what was wrong with my old 14" Poulan but now I prove myself it wasn't me. It was chainsaw.
downside is same as other review.
You have to prepare a lot of bar oil. I mean "A LOT".
I felt like I was using spray gun to shoot bar oil.
It consumed whole 1 qt by 2hrs of light use.
There is no adjuster for this automatic oiling system.
stop, check, pour more oil.
