Homeopathy for Measles is an easy-to-use practical guide for newcomers to homeopathy to self-prescribing safe, non-toxic homeopathic remedies for the common symptoms of the measles virus in an otherwise healthy child. It does not discourage essential treatment for conditions for which medical supervision should be sought - parents and guardians are encouraged to make their own well-informed decisions regarding vaccinations. One of my crusade's in life is to be able to access difficult to find information on controversial subjects and to them be empowered to make up my own mind.
Measles is a huge and emotive subject. It's a disease that kills millions of babies... I can remember having it myself aged 3 and feeling desperately ill and being put in a darkened room for a week... certainly if this book had been around, I think it would have been a huge helping me to recover sooner... I would certainly want it on my kindle if any of my loved ones contracted the disease.

Dangerous, ignorant, rubbish

I just love it when people with an inadequate understanding of science write books that urge people to engage in one of the most dangerous and self-destructive behaviors possible. I hope the day comes when anti-vaccine parents are charged with manslaughter when their kids die from not being vaccinated. How many DEAD KIDS do we need until those in the religion of anti-vaccine get it.

In the 1940s, there were about 9,000 child deaths a YEAR from pertussis. Now we have a vaccine... but parents have started refusing. That worries me. A lot. Their children have NO voice in this.

At present, the American population is roughly DOUBLE what it was in the 1940s. And we now have 10-20 deaths a year from pertussis. If the anti-vaccine half wits get their way, we'll lose our herd immunity and that can be VERY bad.

This is a dangerous book by a person who does not believe in REAL science and is hurting people. I wish I could give it half a star.

Measles is dangerous, homeopathy is worthless...

Homeopathy is fashionable nonsense foisted upon the gullible. It started as just some magical thinking thought up in Germany by Hahnemann a bit over two hundred years ago. Anyone who remembered their high school chemistry would know that diluting something past Avogadro's Number is not stronger, it is not anything. It is literally nothing.

The best thing is to prevent measles with a vaccine.

Edit to add: There is large outbreak of measles in Wales. And this article "Neal's Yard promotes homeopathy for measles. This could kill real children" in the Telegraph [...], explains why this fashionable nonsense is dangerous.

Homeopathy works!

It makes me sad to see the negative comments about this book. I speak in favor of homeopathy as a patient who sought help from a homeopath when conventional medicine failed me. I am alive today because of homeopathy, nothing else. I would urge anyone seeking to learn more about homeopathy to not be discouraged by those who oppose this health care option.

That said, I am comforted to know that the believers in homeopathy, including those who have benefited from treatment and have used homeopathy for themselves, family and pets can rest assured that despite what the detractors or supporters of homeopathy say, the successes of homeopathic treatment will continue, unless the people who rant against this choice in health care conduct book burnings, shut down the newspapers and magazines, fire all the judges, attorneys, stop social networking through the internet, and imprison people who spread the good news of homeopathy through contact from friend to friend, family member to family member, co-worker to co-worker, club members to club members, church group members to other members.

Excellent book for today's culture

Thanks to this book I put aside years of grueling study of physics, chemistry and biology. Now I no longer have to think when I treat my children for life-threatening diseases and illnesses. I just grab a little bit of some random weed, soak it in alcohol for a day, then make up a massive batch of the best treatment that willful ignorance can make. I even use Hahnemann's original technique of hitting the mixin' container on a leather bound bible for the extra holy vibrations that will make my 30C water the strongest water around. It don't remember the poop or nuthin'!

Such a dangerous disease

There is much to commend in this book. It is short at 86 pages, bang up-to-date, and downloadable, as befits the modern writer.

I would have awarded it 5 stars except for its insistence that the patient not be immunised against measles to begin with. In my experience, homeopathic remedies are most effective when the subject is free of illness. Given the highly contagious nature of measles, vaccination is essential, particularly when you consider the life-threatening dangers that the disease presents when left untreated.

That quibble apart, I must confess a sneaking admiration for an honours arts graduate with such a profound knowledge of epidemiology. I'm put in mind of others such as Lord Monckton who are so authoritative on subjects outside their field of practice.

Caring for the Measled !

Most children are bound to contract the Measles. Read "Homeopathy for Measles" ahead of time and you will be prepared and less stressed when the time comes to care for your loved ones. Having the advice offered in this book on hand will help your little girl or boy endure the symptoms more comfortably throughout their convalescence.
