l like the author Mildred Colvin. Loved this book. I enjoy reading historical and romance novels about the Amish way of life. The first book "Mama's Bible" must be read before reading Homes Promise. After reading "Mama's Bible I couldn't wait to start Home'sPromise. I would like to know what happened to the families After "Home's Promise". Thank you Mildred for these two enjoyable books. BJ.

This is a great finish to the story that started on the Oregon Trail. I really appreciate the way Mildred Colvin has her characters face temptation, make mistakes and then grow and mature. Great read!

This is the last of the series of the trials of traveling the trail to Oregon. Along the way there have been sad deaths to deal with, happy births and the chance to ride along and watch the young people mature and take charge of their lives as they happily arrive in Oregon. Typical of Mildred Colvin's stories this has many lessons in Christian faith weaved in with all each step along the way.

Mildred Colvin's second book about the Oregon Trail is as lovely, to read, as the first one. She has characters that are real & loving. It's a family book, and even tho there is some bloodshed, she handles death in a nice way. The faith of the family holds them up thru everything. I have always loved stories about the Oregon Trail & that is why I love to travel myself. The books help me to travel when I am stuck here at home.

Again, don't judge this book by its cover. For some reason, Mildred Colvin's books have the least appealing covers. This book is the sequel to Mama's Bible, following the story of Tommy and Rachael. I will admit that Rachael sometimes got a bit annoying in her worry over Tommy and his true affection for her, but I guess this is one of the pitfalls of a long distance relationship. Another topic in the book is blended families. While we see this as a very current issue, life was a lot more fragile back then and often people ended up raising children that weren't biologically theirs. This story, of course, ends well. That's probably one of the reasons I like Ms. Colvin's writing, because I'm assured a happy ending! I often see reviews that complain about the predictability of the story, and I do understand that. But, for me, I like knowing things will turn out well. I don't mind if the destination is always the same, as long as the journey has some surprises.

This is an enchanting read about young folk who have come a long way to start new lives and who many have found Christ and others who have struggled with the issue and found strength in Him. I believe Christian or Not everyone could learn something from this set of books. The books are based how people are the helpers of other people and learning how to love your neighbors and pulling together to become stronger and yes, even figuring out who Jesus is and where you may fit in. Working through tough times [these are the trials].
This is book 2 of author Mildred Colvin, I honestly made the purchase of Book 1 'Mama's Bible' based on the title, I only read a peek of the excerpt, To my surprise I couldn't put it down, I finished it in 3 days and I'm sure if there had been no interruptions I would have finished it in one days time. They are very much worth reading and worth a LOT more than the 99 cents I paid for each of them.

This book is a continuation of the Oregon Trail books. Rachel and Tommy came to Oregon in the same wagon train. Rachel became Tommy' s sister, Katie' s best friend. Rachel led Tommy to the Lord, and God called him to preach. They fell in love, but Tommy felt called to witness to the local Indians. After months of uncertainty, Tommy became the preacher of the new church the townspeople built. In the end, Tommy and Rachel marry. I enjoyed the book very much, especially the spiritual message. I highly recommend it.
