I do think this book has great advice, but it did not help ME, since I feel like I have the same knowledge she has about all of this. My favorite part was the part where she says she wants to interview people who run a business and homeschool at the same time.
I hope she will ask to interview me for her next book. She promised to do so to have case studies from different families in her next book. I would love for her to put our family and our situation, our struggles and learnings, in her next book.
I started a facebook group for support for those of us in this situation. I cannot even find blog posts about it. I did write one, but after this book, I think I will write more. There are probably a lot of us moms out there who run our own business and homeschool too. It is such a different world.
Another favorite aspect of this book for me was that I felt and extreme desire to be friends with this woman. She is so much like me it is not even funny! I love how she said at the beginning, that she never even fit in with stay-at-home moms. Yeah, I never did either. It was a tough part of my life, before my business started to have success. I was bored. I was not bored because there is nothing to do, but because the things to do are so mundane and repetitive.
My mom's advice to me once, was "The rooms and clothes don't stay clean. The dishes and laundry don't stay done. You have to have something that you do that is just yours and that stays done!" (Karen Christensen)
Amen to that!
