Founded in 2016, Homesick creates authentic, hand-poured products that draw on the power of scent to evoke treasured memories of people, places, and memories. Each fragrance is extensively researched and developed by our team of storytellers, perfume chemists, and chandlers in collaboration with passion communities. Made from a natural soy wax blend with premium cotton wicks and custom fragrance oils, our candles are non toxic, contain no lead, plastics, parabens or phthalates and are hand poured in small batches in Massachusetts.

Using input from locals in various states, we crafted scents that embody those places and bring us back home. Homesick’s hand-poured candles began as a hobby in our kitchen, and to this day we still create each unique candle by hand, one by one.

Books

Scent: The main theme is an older leather bound book accord mixed with a woody desk character of cedar and sandalwood. Hints of balsamic and vanilla finish the complex scent.

Grandmas Kitchen Table

Scent: The scents of rich butter mixed with touches of apple, cinnamon, clove and a hint of sugar cookie. Tonka bean and sugar finish out this homey aroma.

Summer Camp

Scent: Fresh green grass accord with hints of crystal clear lake water, blooming hyacinth found along trails and just a touch of fresh lemon and smoke.

How did you come up with the idea for this product?

We were living in NYC and yet all of us were from somewhere else and missing home. In the winter of 2016, we sought out to find a way to keep that place with you, no matter where you live. Homesick’s hand-poured candles began as a hobby in our kitchen, and to this day we still create each unique candle by hand, one by one. Using input from locals in various states, we crafted scents that embody those places and bring us back home. keep that place with you, no matter where you live.

What makes your product special?

We finely craft custom scents that are tied to places and memories. Nostalgia in the warmth of a candle.

What has been the best part of your startup experience?

Collaborating with other small businesses and local input. We feel like we've taken a road trip thru the entire USA.

I got this as a surprise for my boyfriend. He moved to my state from Texas for college. I wasn't sure about how it would smell but I figured even if he wasn't a fan it would be neat as a decoration for his room. When I surprised him with the candle and he smelled it, he actually got very emotional and started crying because he said the smell instantly brought back so many memories of home. I don't know how they did it, but Homesick Candles managed to replicate the smell of home so well in this candle that it took my boyfriend back home immediately. Definitely worth my money:)

Oh my gosh, what’s not to love? The sleek black box, the fact that you can smell the scent THROUGH the box, or that the scent is 10000% accurate. Texas smells like a campfire on a warm, musk, summer night just before a light rain cools things down. Wow. It’s the embodiment of all things Texas. I bought this as a birthday gift for someone and am super tempted to keep it.
