So he could be forgiven for not noticing exactly when it was that he saw what he saw.
He'd all but forgotten it by the time the eruption was over, by the time the pool emptied after five wonderful bursts. But five-year-old Chuck was squirming now, and pulled off Will's hat in a bid to reclaim his attention. "Let me down!"
Will wasn't quite sure what made him look back over through the clearing steam again as he rescued his hat and lifted the boy down, but when he did, he almost dropped him.
There was something there. At first he thought it was just a pile of - something - down the slope a bit, almost out of sight.
But then he heard the moan.

She spent most of her childhood summers in the back seat of a car, traveling with her parents to almost every national park west of the Mississippi and a great many places in between.
She holds degrees in British and American literature and history and library science, and a certificate in museum studies. In her other life, she works as an independent museum curator, and finds museums a great source of adventures of all kinds.
