The binding in the book is not very strong. Pages are loose and float around where the glue did not adhere evenly. I understand the "premium binding" is supposed to stay flat, but loose pages make for a sloppy cookbook. Page Street should reconsider their design.
Great book otherwise.
Here are some of the recipes that I tried:
Apple Cider Donuts -- Tender and delicious, these come together quickly.
Corned Bean Hash -- Nothing memorable.
Baked Breakfast Gratin -- Tasty and the sauce comes together well, something you don't always find in a vegan gratin.
Red Beans and Rice Gumbo -- Hearty and quite good.
Heirloom Tomato & Hemp Gazpacho -- Okay, but felt as if it was missing something.
Tuna-less Salad Sandwich -- Pretty much your standard chickpea salad sandwich, but a good one.
Smoky Potato Salad -- Really excellent, this was packed with flavor.
Rosemary Garlic Hasselback Potatoes -- These are so good!
No-Bake Chocolate Cookies -- These are perfect no-bake cookies, so satisfying!
Horchata -- Easy and yummy. A refreshing summer drink.
Easy Cashew Cheese -- Creamy and savory, perfect on toast or a bagel.
Creamy Cashew Vanilla Butter -- Flavor was good, but the texture never came together for me.
This is a solid cookbook, especially if you're looking for things that are more on the traditional/comfort food side. Note: since publishing the book, the author has decided to no longer be vegan (per her blog), so if you prefer to spend your cookbook money within the vegan community, that is something to consider.
Some reviews call out the quality of the binding. I've been cooking from this cookbook for a few months and some of the pages do feel insecure, but none have actually come out yet. I can't tell if it just feels poor quality but will stay together or if this will be an issue in the future.
