About the Author
Sara Richardson grew up chasing adventure in Colorado's rugged mountains. She's climbed to the top of a 14,000 foot peak at midnight, swum through Class IV rapids, completed her wilderness first-aid certification, and spent seven days at a time tromping through the wilderness with a thirty-pound backpack strapped to her shoulders.
Eventually Sara did the responsible thing and got an education in writing and journalism. After a brief stint in the corporate writing world, she stopped ignoring the voices in her head and started writing fiction. Now she uses her experience as a mountain adventure guide to write stories that incorporate adventure with romance. Still indulging her adventurous spirit, Sara lives and plays in Colorado with her saint of a husband and two young sons.

Hometown Cowboy is the first book in the adult contemporary romance Rocky Mountain Riders series by Sara Richardson. This is the first book I have read by Sara, but it won’t be my last because I really enjoyed this cute read. It was a quick and satisfying, (mostly) fluffy read. Fans of small town romances will enjoy Hometown Cowboy, and the cast of characters will leave you excited to journey back to this town for future couple’s stories.
Hometown Cowboy is Jessa and Lance’s tale. Lance starts out as a cocky son of a gun, and Jessa is sweet as pie. I was a little worried that he was going to be too much of a jerk for sweet little Jessa Mae, but surprisingly he won me over. They worked well together. The book follows a bit of a predictable plotline, but it turned out just the way I wanted it to. My favorite part of all was the chemistry between Jessa and Lance. They have chemistry and URST in spades.
The cast of secondary characters was great as well. They will lend themselves nicely to future books and pairs. I can’t wait to come back to the Rocky Mountain Riders series to see what happens with the rest of the crew. The only thing that was lacking for me, was a bit of the romance towards the end. Before I knew it, I was at the epilogue, and while I loved it, I wanted to see more of how they got there. I wanted to see a little bit more of the journey for Jessa and Lance. But overall, this was a good read. I will be continuing on in this series for sure.
*Disclaimer- I was sent a copy of this book for free.
Right from the first page I liked Jessa and Lance. It was funny, sweet, and the characters had heart. The feelings were written on the page and I really wanted the two of them to stop dancing around each other and get together already. I loved the addition of the Lance's brothers and I am hoping that they will have their own stories.
Lance has been busy getting busy on the rodeo circuit—but he’s looking for one more shot at taking the crown in bull riding—he just needs to keep his head in the game, but when Jessa enters the picture, Lance is hesitant to admit that maybe there’s something more to life than just bull riding—maybe something with Jessa.
Whoa… hot, sexy cowboy versus sweet, smart veterinarian? Who will win the battle of wills—lust, love or fear? Jessa is trying to keep up with life. She’s still smarting from her father’s recent death—and her father was best friend’s with Lance’s dad, Luis. I love the relationship between Jessa and Luis—it’s very sweet how Luis takes Jessa under his wing and steps into a fatherly role. The same with Jessa taking on a daughterly role in how she keeps track of him and deeply cares for him. I also really liked Jessa and Lance together—they’re seriously sexy but also have this deep seeded spark that’s the cornerstone of their relationship. They both have baggage that needs to be overcome, but it’s worth it in the end. I look forward to more sparks flying with Lance’s brother’s books—Lucas and Levi will soon have me swooning too! ~ Missy, 4 stars
