Anne Marie is a Texas girl, born and raised. Romance is her passion. She loves to read and write about men and women falling in love, overcoming life's obstacles, and living happily ever after. She writes spicy Contemporary Western novels as well as Regency Historicals. Married to her high school sweetheart, Anne Marie and her husband spend their leisure time working (actually playing) in the yard and renovating their 1956 custom-built house on two one-acre lots in the middle of the city. They have two grown children, three white rabbits, two mischievous cats, and one sweet puppy dog. Visit Anne Marie at www.annemarienovark.com
It was so nice to catch up with the McKades of Diamondback Ranch and discover they are all doing well. This story is about Austin's daughter, Kelsey, who returned home after the death of her firefighter husband. Pete works for the family, flying as a crop duster and helping put out wildfires. He's been half in love with Kelsey for years, stood by and watched her marry another man, now has to watch her grieve his loss. He knows he's not right for her but it doesn't stop him from wanting her. Kelsey doesn't think she'll ever get over losing the man she loved, so why is she having all these feelings for Pete? Sure she had a crush on him back in high school but they've both changed since then and getting involved with him somehow seems disloyal to her late husband. While it takes awhile for these two to get their act together, reading about it is quite enjoyable. You have a chance to catch up with characters from previous books as well as learn what makes Pete and Kelsey tick. Glad I got this one and I will definitely be reading any future books set on the Diamondback Ranch.
We met Kelsey in book 1 The Doctor Wears a Stetson. Through each book in the series I read how Kelsey had matured. In the 6th book she becomes the subject and you go on this journey of her getting over the loss of her fiancée, becoming a successful business woman and searching her feelings for the crush she had at 13. I knew it would end happily and was so enthralled with the story I could not put it down.
Kelsey and Pete have always been friends, but can that friendship continue after Kelsey returns to Salt Fork with a broken heart after the death of her fireman fiancé? And Pete has certainly followed in his mentor Tyler's fabled footsteps as a Lonestar Heartbreaker. I really like this continuing saga of the McKade family! Well done! Read it straight through because I couldn't put it down.
I really enjoyed going back to Diamond Ranch and hope that more books are coming our way. It's always fun when you really enjoy a series to have them continue or come back for an encore. Great job. Thanks for the great book.
