Danielle Parker is the niece of Thibodaux and, unaware to the people of Success, is the daughter of one its prominent white figures. She finds herself dating this person’s son, Hunter, a rich kid with a tendency for violence. When she finds herself pregnant instead of taking responsibility Hunter kills her.
The story tells about how the town is divided and how money can get you whatever you want. It’s up to Tanner and Thibodaux to help convince the others that Hunter is the one and that justice should be served.
Does it? I can’t tell you. What I can say is that this book started out fast and interesting. Somewhere in the middle it lost its hold of me. Maybe if the characters were developed a bit more or there was more suspense added. I found the ending to be rushed, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like the story because I did. I just wish there was a bit more substance to it.
That being said I will still read more from Larry Watts.
