This series is so well written that it's hard to see how it can get any better, and then it does. Our favorite human and Eternal characters are all together for a murder mystery weekend that ends up being the real thing. Of course, a well timed snowstorm means the murderer is trapped along with the other manor guests and no police in sight. There's a plethora of suspects but somehow we're still surprised how the mystery unfolds and is solved. Plus, we get to meet a couple of new cast members who will be going on to their own series, which sounds like it could be more historical fun.

Characters include old favorites and a couple of new surprises and the plot will definitely keep you guessing. This latest in the Oxford Key Mysteries is a real treat for the holiday season and I highly recommend it.

Another great book in the Oxford Key Mysteries! If you like spot-on conversations where every sentence counts and each word is crafted with precision, then this series is for you. Homicide at Holly Manor is exactly what it says—a charmingly fun paranormal holiday cozy mystery. You’ll be caught up in the twist and turns as the mystery unfolds. Natali Payne is not one to give up or leave the work to others. She dives right in, unafraid and clever. Keep them coming, Lynn Morrison. Your books are fun, entertaining, and well-written.

Just when you think a series can't get any better, Lynn Morrison really surprises you with Homicide at Holly Manor, the best yet of this great series. Nat and crew are at Holly Manor putting on a murder mystery weekend. Fun to see them away from campus and H and Bartie are able to be there too. Great to have a limited pool of suspects who are stuck in one place. Fun watching other Eternals join in the investigation. Plenty of good motives, twists, and surprises. Big surprise ending/reveal as well. The murder weapon was definitely unique and really sends your mind into overdrive trying to figure it out. I was totally hooked and had a hard time putting this book down to get on with my real life. Looking forward to more of all of these great characters.

I really enjoy reading these cozy mysteries set in Oxford, a mix of magical beings with the Eternals and cozy mystery, add in lots of humour from H, the cat who really is a Wyvern to those who can see him and these books ste a really good read.

Nat has stepped away from her events management job at the University's for a weekend to run a murder mystery weekend as a team building event for a company, run by a determined young woman who isn't as she seems.

Nat brings with her Edwsrd, her fiancee and a Professor at the University; her friend Kate, who like her, can see the Eternals and H; and Bartie, an Eternal who is a crucial part of the weekend.

All doesn't go to plan when the wrong person ends up being the victim, and a large snowfall prevents Trevor, a local Police DI and their friend from attending, leaving the solving of the murder to Nat and Edward, at least til he's able to get there!

There's lots of humour and snarky comments from H too, although not as much in this book as previous ones. I was pleased to read about 2 new characters who appear in this book.

Whilst each book is a standalone mystery, the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series. It's a really good read!

I have really enjoyed this inventive series, in spite of the Americanisms and the writer's overfondness for the words quip and wink - nobody winks that much and using remark or comment occasionally would help. As usual this is a good read, but unfortunately, there are a few editorial errors that detract from the story. The most obvious being the mention of Mathilde at the dinner table shortly before the murder takes place when she is actually in Oxford.
However the major problem in this book is that although in America, I understand, members of the public can be deputised this does not happen in the UK so although the characters could have investigated the murders they could not have done so officially in interrogating suspects etc. Sadly this lack of attention to British police procedure did rather spoil the book for me. Having said that I do look forward to future books in this series.

It was stepping outside the original framework of magic in Oxford, which could be great or could just not quite work. Thankfully, the author was definitely up to the task: the story was fun and the mystery kept me guessing. I really enjoyed the twists and turns, as well as the hint of possible future stories!
