Full Featured Car Camping Tent.

Finally got to use this tent last week and it's a real beaut! I picked this model because it came with an integrated canopy and could attach to my CRV if I wanted to (Haven't tried this last feature out yet). Extra features include inside mesh pockets, gear loft, and lantern strap. Can't think of any other feature that I would want. Plenty of room as tent is 10 ' x 10'. Must be close to 10' tall too. Easily holds queen air mattress and all of our car camping gear.

Note that this tent is bulkier and heavier than most. Extra bulk/ weight comes from heavy duty "sock" designed to go around the back of the vehicle. Extra weight also comes from the 2 thick fiberglass tent poles and the 2 steel canopy supports. Would be significantly lighter if these poles were aluminum.

Received my new tent just in time for a long weekend camping and fishing in Anchor Point, Alaska. Easy set up and great size are a plus. Loved the quick access to gear afforded by Element attachment to tent. Plenty of room for two cots and height is good too.
Now the con: Rain pools in area above Hatch and runs into tent! Had to quick cover the whole works with another tarp to prevent deluge in sleeping area. Looked at instructions again to ensure I installed it correctly. Would have given 5 stars but for this flaw. Bummer is I now have to carry another huge tarp and be prepared to cover the whole works. I'm considering return.

Very high quality tent however after using it we determined the SUV attachment to be more than a gimmick than a useful addition. The attachment to the SUV can be completely removed (unzipped) and the tent can be converted to a standard tent, by zipping close the opening. I noticed another reviewer mentioned that it wasn't good in the rain but we didn't have that problem even in a major downpour. I wonder if they didn't use the rain cover. Anyway, when it started raining there was a small leak where the tent wraps around the tailgate but we fixed it easily by pulling the magnetic material to stop it.

We love this tent! It fits onto the back of our Honda Element like a glove giving us a "living room" for our car camping adventures. It is a very heavy duty well constructed tent. The fiberglass poles are the thickest I have seen and all of the seams, grommets, straps, etc. are excellent quality and made to last. It's quick and easy for the two of us to set up and take down. We do it in about 15 minutes, and then unpack our gear right by pulling it out of the back right into the tent. What could be easier?
Here's a handy hint: use a 10 by 12 tarp underneath it to keep the bottom clean and dry - it really helps if you are packing up early in the morning.
