It was sometimes hard for me to like Brice but at the end behind the gruff facade there lies a sensetive heart. He is self-confident – the total opposite to Linden, and is successful, this much he doesn’t stop working even on christmas much to Aunt Jane’s chagrin.
The spice is the tension between Linden and Brice, and sometimes Brice’s sudden reactions were a bit surprising yet it’s no wonder Linden can’t resist. Brice has his own charm, although he is pretty often more like a borderline douchebag. 😀 If he wouldn’t shown his softer sides I would say he is a lost case.
I really enjoyed the dynamics though and it was a nice and pleasant read. A few things were a bit confusing and I couldn’t get into Brice the first times he appeared because of his kind of rude behaviour. For a nice, warm everning this story is pretty fitting, it is actually funny to read it the last days of summer/ early days in fall. 🙂 But it gives a pre-christmas atmosphere and you can totally smell the cinnamon and ginger and all the other spices while reading the book. :3
4 out of 5 stars for this. 🙂
Review originally posted on my blog with added content on Mikku-chan / A world full of words
Linden is quite a likable character but I found he broke out into tears way too easily and frequently and while it wasn't stated it felt like Linden might have been suffering from depression. Brice i particular I didn't really like. I found he was just detestable, his behavior was childish and frankly I really just wanted him to leave Linden alone. His behavior came off as a bit bipolar to be truthful, he was easily irritable and temperamental. Brice's parents and Linden and Brice's friends were kind of darn awesome. Glad they had such supportive family and friends.
Emotional the book put me through a wringer. I was angry at Brice a lot and I didn't particularly like what the ugly side he brought out of Linden. I also cried quite a bit for Linden and all the pain and suffering his first love was bringing him. The ending I appreciated but I wished there had been more. That being said it was a good book and sets itself apart a bit from other romances. I liked that the book portrayed that love is messy and there are ups and downs in any relationship. That it's not all cupcake and rainbows and it takes work from both individuals to make something work.

Was given this book as a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review ~ and this didn’t disappoint, it was a gorgeous read that I really enjoyed! Linden, our MC, is a sweet, richly-written and genuine character - his beautiful nature and differences from the usual young person were so refreshing! The strong attraction and sensuality between Linden and sexy Brice was so well written that it completely hooked me in from the first pages - right through their rocky-at-times, hot, emotional and sensual relationship.
A rich, sexy, well written story with a refreshing MC that you immediately love. Brilliant!
