Editorial Reviews

The Honeydrippers: Volume One- is Robert Plant's first collaboration with Robbie Blunt and is an exuberant tribute to the blues and R&B. The disc features Jeff Beck, Nile Rogers, and Jimmy Page on standouts including "Rockin' At Midnight" and "Sea of Love" along with a live concert version of "Rockin' At Midnight."

I bought this EP when it came out in the 80's for many it was a surprize hit. The CD remaster is great. You can hear everything very clearly. Jeff Beck's guitar solo at the end of "rockin at midnight" is vibrant. On the Ep it was faded out. Just a warning, Robbie Blunt is only on the live version and, this is not his first collab' with Mr. Plant despite what it says above. Hey, who ever thought old stuff could sound relevent?

When this collection of tunes came out I was mesmerized by the fullness, almost Phil Specter production quality of "Sea of Love" as it played on my FM dial (yes son, back then we listened to the radio for music most of the time and not our IPods or MP3 players) when I saw it available for $5 on AMAZON I had to jump on it (having lost my copy of it in a bitter divorce)
It still held that same hold on me and I was also surprised to hear an extra clip (the live version of Rockin At Midnight)
All in all, it's excellent music to hear, and by the way (or BTW if you so desire) Brian Setzer did perform on this album and I believe this made way for what would become "The Brian Setzer Orchestra..." but I could be wrong...

Sea of Love & Rockin' at Midnight...what's more to say. Those 2 songs are worth the price right there. But 2 more jewels are Young Boy Blues and I Gotta Woman. Love the cd. Jimmy and Robert at their best!!

I remember some Zep fans being upset by this. Not the reunion wanted. But that wasn't the point. Plant isn't one for playing it safe. A short look back at the birth of rock n roll. Wish volume 2 had followed.

"I Get a Thrill" every time I play this (pun intended). Just pure fun and Nostalgia. Every song is great, and a tribute to the music that inspired Mr Plant. 2 perfect make out songs are a bonus, the oozing with sex "Sea of Love" the aching "young Man Blues" and 3 uptempo snap your fingers tap your toes rockers. "Thrill" Gotta A Woman (way up town), and the never ending Rocking at Midnight. If you love early rock redone with a modern sound this is the ultimate. It's a gotta be right moment type, but when it is, look out

I haven't heard this cd for years. The combination of Jeff Beck, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Nile Rogers and even Paul Shaffer is something to behold. They blend well and have . If your into British Blues, you have it here.

Guess I had to step into the 21st century. This album has been remastered and sounds great. Some of the best musicians in the world are on here. Its just too short.

I had this record back when it was issued in the mid-80's. I remember Robert Plant took a lot of flak from his Led Zepplin base of fans for making a recording that deviated from the Led Zep formula. God forbid those fans ever listen to any other genre of rock.

I bought the CD for the recording of "There's Good Rockin" which has a driving rhythm, Jeff Beck on lead guitar and a fantastic horn section. There's an added bonus track of "There's Good Rockin" live.

The other tunes are pleasant enough to listen too. There's some nostalgia in this record for me too. my girlfriend, who is not my wife of 15 years, used to screw our brains out while this song was playing. Gonna give it another try on CD.
