Headset rated@ 27dB, which seemed about right. I sometimes use a headset in conjunction with a set of comfy 30 dB Skull Screw earplugs in the ear canal to suppress my SO's exceptionally loud buzzsaw snoring. Other reviewers complained about the amount of ear cup pressure from the springy 'hoop', but I did not find that to be a problem (and I found that pressing the cups more firmly against the head actually increased sound deadening, so I would not want less pressure at the expense of sound control).

My main concern is what I consider to be a significant design flaw. This is a folding headset. In order to fold it, it appears that you have to change the adjustment back to the 'smallest' setting. The adjustment is done via retracting the cups relative to the hoop with some fairly flimsy wires attaching hoop to the cups. I tried adjusting just one side to the smallest setting (leaving the other side extended), and was able to fold them fairly compact, only to find that the wire was bent during simple and gentle carrying in a soft bag.

This made the one side not sit correctly (and therefore little to no sound control on that side. Was able to repair the wire and get them sitting properly on both sides, but was disappointed that an otherwise good design should have such a potentially fatal flaw. Just my two cents..

My son has sensory issues, and needs noise-cancelling headphones to block out sound that is too overwhelming. He wears these headphones at school, daycare, or when we are at public events that can get loud. He needs to regulate his sensory intake and these headphones seal out the noise very well. They are also snug. He likes that feeling. You still know that something is going on around you and people can get your attention, but the sound protection is very good. I would recommend these headphones to parents if they have a child with sensory issues or autism.

I've used these both at indoor and outdoor ranges. They provide good sound protection in either setting. I didn't have a problem getting my cheek on the stock of my AR with these on.

The fit adjustment will get out of whack when you collapse and fold them for compact storage. I don't do that, I just throw them in my range bag without folding them.

I bought these thinking the extra dB protection would be good for use at the shooting range. Prior to purchasing these I typically wore in-ear plugs as well as some cheap no-name over-ear muffs. With these L2F's the in-ear plugs are a thing of the past. Even then, it is hard to hear the instructions of the range officer. These definitely do what they claim they will do. Additionally, they are comfortable to wear. My only gripe would be that they get a little uncomfortable in heat, as the plastic padding gets slimy with sweat. I don't know that this can be avoided though with any brand, so it should not affect my score.

I bought these for my two year old to wear at an airshow with the USAF Thunderbirds. For that purpose, they work great, and they can actually fit him and me both. I was going to use them for ear protection while using lawn equipment, but they seal so well they give me uncomfortable pressure changes on my ear drum. They definitely muffle sound like a champ though.

High quality construction and great protection for very little money. Attenuation is excellent, just as expected. Very light in weight. The folding mechanism is excellent and a very welcome feature. The fit, however, is in my opinion way too tight - for me personally they press so much around the ears that I would probably experience some pain after prolonged use, and due to the cushions' entirely "airtight" nature there's a slightly uncomfortable pressure on my eardrums when I wear them. If none of this bothers you, and you're just looking for great hearing protection, I definitely recommend getting these.

These are very nice, affordable, "no frills" earmuffs for the shooting range. They fold up compactly, fit snugly, seal well around the ears, and dampen gunshots to a comfortable level. I particularly like the soft, thin, flexible headband. It feels more comfortable than some of the thicker plastic bands on other earmuffs I've owned. The muffs are reasonably adjustable for different head sizes. In my case, I need them fully extended to fit well. The noise reduction rating is sufficient to reduce gunfire to a comfortable level, yet mild enough that you can still have a conversation with someone without having to raise your voice very much. I think it's a good balance.

One (minor) downside is that you can't leave the earmuffs adjusted to the proper length for your head. You have to compress them back down to the shortest setting in order for the earmuffs to fold up inside the headband properly for compact storage. I don't see this as a problem, but some people may find it irritating. Also, I wonder how long the adjustable wires that attach the earmuffs to the headband will last. They don't seem cheap, but they aren't very robust either. I hope they'll hold up well and have no reason to doubt them yet, but they're small enough that I wonder if they may bend or break over time--especially since they need to be adjusted every time I don or stow these earmuffs. For under $20, it's worth the risk.

The earmuffs may also interfere with some safety glasses, depending on the thickness and shape of the frames/sides on your glasses. Mine have very flat sides that fit fairly close to my head and run straight back to my ears, so the earmuffs seal fine over them and around my ear. However, if you wear glasses that have flared or curved sides that stand out from the sides of your head a bit, they may not fit well with these earmuffs, or the cups may not seal around your ear properly.
