This is an updated review.
I bought this gateway in July, 2019, to go with an existing system in a house I purchased. Worked well and is very useful. I’ve had WiFi-enabled thermostats and this provides those same capabilities to this system. I would have just replaced the thermostat, but it’s a dual fuel heat pump setup that switches over to gas below 40° and the RedLink system was set up to manage that. The device has worked as advertised.
Update: Turns out the technical support conclusion that the device had failed was wrong. Searching online I found others with similar issues and one of the suggested approaches worked for me. It’s all back online and working normally. I put the stars back up to 5 as my only issue was its early failure.

I still do wonder about Amazon pricing.
In 2019 it cost $80. Now it’s $130, more than a 60% price increase. I see HVAC supply houses online who still sell it for about $80. ???

Second RedLink Gateway in 7 years
Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2022
If you're just looking at investing in Honeywell RedLink products, I would look elsewhere; if you're already invested in this system, they've pretty much got you over a barrel. The first RedLink Gateway we had lasted 5 years before giving up, we replaced it with this one, which has now decided to no longer reliably maintain the internet link. Nothing on my end is blocking it, just comes and goes sporadically, making the app all but useless. A call to the Honeywell (Residio) support number on the back of the device resulted in the usual unplug this, reboot that, plug that back in nonsense that of course had all been tried previously (amongst other things). When none of that worked they, in no uncertain terms, told me that I shouldn't have been allowed to purchase the RedLink gateway bc I'm not an HVAC professional, and there's nothing they can do for me. Had it been installed by an HVAC company it would still be under warranty.Less than a 2 year lifespan is not acceptable in my book, if it had made it to 5 years like the original, I probably wouldn't have given a second thought and just replaced it. Instead I will be looking at other options.

It says you void the warranty if you install it yourself. Really? all you're it plugging in the power plug and a cat 5 cable to your router, the hardest part is finding the installer code witch as it turns out is the 4 digit # in my case under "Dealer Information" menu which as it turned out was also on the back of the thermostat.

The industry really does want you to spend money unnecessarily, like a few hundred bucks to have a technician do what literally took me 5 minutes, and I'm only a few steps above a lodite lol. My system won't work with any smart thermostats, so this is just what I needed to register for my companies smart energy program and was super easy to install and register.

Super easy to install and sync... took like 5 minutes. Now I can see the temp on my phone, as well as, its Alexa usable.

I bought this for my new Redlink system and the insulation was easy. It was basically plug it in. Now getting it to connect to the interface module was not as easy. There were not good instructions on how to get into the thermostat to find the right menu to add the internet module. Once the menu was found it connects easily with no problems. Just a side note I do heating and a/c for a living and this was not the easiest full function system that I have ever put in.

EDIT - Feb 2020: The connection problems seem to have gone away without me making any changes. I believe the cloud services were not reliable for a few weeks then were fixed sometime in early Feb. Updating to 4 * as the service is not 100% reliable but seems to have been stable since early Feb. I wouldn't want to rely on this for a distant property temperature control but a home you live in it should be fine as you can always control from the actual thermostat.
EDIT - Jan 2020. I have been having a LOT of trouble with my gateway not being able to stay connected . I received another gateway from Honeywell under warranty and it does the same exact thing. I believe what is happening is it cannot ping the cloud servers, and will go into an endless loop of trying to get a new DHCP address. I can see it re-trying endlessly to DHCP Discover, but it never ACKs the IP the router gives it. I think this is some kind of "Back-off" timer that is in the software in the gateway. Will try again to resolve this with Honeywell, as it's obviously not the hardware of the "Bad" gateway they sent a replacement for. I will update this review with details.

Small device and just plugs right into network port and power wall wart. Easy to pair with the thermostat if you do a little bit of research on how to get the installer password or download the Installer Guide for the thermostat you're using. Highly recommend to do this before attempting to install this gateway. I had already paired a Red link Outdoor sensor to my thermostat so I was familiar with the process. Once it's paired you can create your account with the Honeywell site, and after that, the app is usable. There is a little bit of a lag time between "submit" button being pushed on the app, and the real thermostat actually changing. Nothing major, just be aware it may be a few seconds. This is very useful if you want to turn on your AC or heat when away from home , or monitor the status of the system. In my opinion it's safer than a Nest as it will work as a standalone thermostat without any Internet connection.

a little hard to set up

This RedLINK Internet Gateway allows the users remote access to any RedLINK enabled Honeywell Home Thermostat, and in my case it's TH3220R1004 (thermostat) and THM5320R (EIM -Equipment Interface Module). The installation manual isn't clear but Support was able to walk me through and got it done in 5 minutes. I can now control the temperatures in my house from the app! Highly recommend it.

Honeywell THM6000R7001
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on November 6, 2020
Bought the Honeywell THM6000R7001 to connect to my Mitsibushi Furnace with a thermostats MRCH1 remote control. Installation was very easy when I figured how to activate the Wireless setup on my furnace. Had to open the electrical panel of my furnace to get to my wireless receiver and then to push the control receiver button to find the new Honeywell router. The instruction says to do it via the thermostat but it’s actually on the furnace itself. Once I figured it out, it took one second for Honeywell to properly connect. Happy with the results.
