Important Review for Non Tech Buyers

I read many reviews about customers buying this product and it not working. Some buyers destroyed electrical or electronic devices using this converter. Its important to understand that this product only does a physical conversion from a USA style plug to UK style plug. It does not do any electrical conversion. (You need to buy a transformer for an electrical conversion) So what does this mean ? If your device is not marked 120/240 or 110/220 do not use it. UK uses 220v, if you plug in a hair dryer marked 120v your hair dryer will get very hot and eventually burn out. It may even catch on fire. My wife was travelling to the UK and we purchased this converter for her laptop. Her laptop power supply is clearly marked 120v/240v. Her cell phone charger is also marked 110/220 so we were able to use it to charge her cell phone as well.

We're very happy with the adapters - and are using them in UK (Northern Ireland) and Ireland with excellent results. Of course the user has to confirm that the U.S device will work with 240V AC feed. All of our USB chargers and laptop chargers are shown as compatible, and we have had no problems using them through the adapters. We had to leave our hair dryer at home, since it works only with 120VAC.

Also, the 3 pack has proven to be the right choice for us. Traveling around Ireland and staying mostly in B&Bs, we have needed all 3 some days. The box is a handy place to keep them while traveling.

Having traveled outside the US very infrequently, I was delighted to realize (upon assembling my ridiculous amount of electronic gear for a trip to Ireland) that nearly every power supply and charger I own now, even though it has "American plugs", is rated as 110V-220V, which means that I DID NOT need a voltage converter (NOT THIS PRODUCT), I only needed a plug adapter (EXACTLY THIS PRODUCT). This included two laptops, a tablet, and (not kidding) chargers for four different phones, as well as a 360 camera-- all of my electronics.

I ordered this 3-pack because the price was right, the risk was low, and they were going to arrive plenty in time for my trip.

TO BE REALLY CLEAR: these do not convert voltage, so if your device is 110V-only, you will probably DESTROY your equipment, and what you need is a voltage CONVERTER instead. However, if you check all your device adapters and chargers, and read the teeny-tiny print, they probably say that they are 110-220V. In that case, these will sort you out perfectly.

What I wound up doing was finding a power strip that was 110-220 capable (not all of them are!), and then I used just one of these adapters for the power strip itself, and then I had a bunch of American plugs to use without issue.

I was so pleased with these, that I wound up keeping one as a memento (and in case I needed it on the plane ride home), and left the other two with the friends I was visiting, as they have American visitors quite often.

I couldn't figure out if it was my USB-C power brick, the USB-C power circuit in my laptop, a USB-C cable or three I was using, the micro USB circuitry in my headphones, I was mystified. It took multiple plugins and attempts at reversing the type C connector for my laptop to start charging. Almost shelled out for a new power brick. Was worried my laptop was broken. Then I was lucky enough to lose all three of these pieces of garbage in a matter of ten days. I bought a cheap, fused travel adapter from the off-license on the corner and haven't had a single issue since.

This is a simple product. How on Earth do you **** it up like that? I wouldn't be surprised if this is the part of the equation that destroyed two pairs of wireless headphones in as many weeks.

Shameful. Shocked that no one else has noticed the deficiency.

These things are wildly unreliable and should not be purchased by anyone traveling to the United Kingdom. All three of the units I received had the exact same problem, which has not been shared by either of the super-cheap replacements I've purchased here at the corner store.

As a huge fan of electricity, I must say I love this product. It works like a charm, very straightforward, don't overthink it.

When I was 11-years old, I accidentally shocked myself on my grandma's 56-year old socket that was totally unsafe and not up to code by even the most lax standards. There were wires dangling everywhere, full buckets of water catching leaks from the roof, half-full cans of gasoline - frankly, it was more dangerous than many war zones - but my grandma lived a certain way and nobody was going to tell her otherwise.

Luckily, I survived the shock and not only was I fine, but I was blessed with supernatural powers and everyone in middle school called me the "Electric Boy". Yes, it was strange that the shock caused my hair to fall out, my nose to shrivel and my tongue to turn black - but it was also a blessing. I found out quickly who my true friends were ... unfortunately no other 11-years old wanted to be friends with a black-tongued bald kid with a nose that looked like a crumpled piece of paper so I found that I had no friends.

This is when I was blessed with magical powers. Everyone in school would look at me like I was crazy, but they were the crazy ones for not recognizing that the shock had given me the powers of invisibility. I am telling you that for two years straight, absolutely nobody talked to me ... my powers were amazing. It was like I was invisible at all times, except for when I got home and my parents told me they loved me. Being invisible is an awesome responsibility, but also an awesome burden ... I found out that you could get beat up real badly by the "Visibles" if you accidentally banged into one in the hallway and they mistook you for a pit viper. I one time snuck into a "Rambo - First Blood" and saw things that no 11 year old should see ... but that was just part of being invisible... while others can't see you, you see everything.

Anyways, it was a weird time in my life but I don't regret a thing.

I LOVE these outlets. They worked perfectly in Scotland, UK and I love the fact that 1 plug has 2 outlets. you can plug 6 items with these 3 plugs. I also love the fact that they look just like plugs at home, not weird holes like a lot of other travel plugs are. Therefore I can use my baby proofing plug covers when not in use.
Highly highly recommend ! (Note - they are NOT converters so wont work for irons, curling irons, blow dryers unless they are travel ones that have multi-voltage - I do have a travel 100-220V flat iron and it worked with these plugs).

Made specifically for British-style to north-American style. So NA style plugs fit snugly into the adapter with no slop as with universal adapters. Having 2 outlets is a huge bonus. I was able to charge my iPhone and use my dual-voltage shaver at the same time. Excellent quality for price, and you get three! My travel companions and I all had our own for our UK trip. Used for chargers, laptops, shavers.

Caveats: As everyone else has said, it does not convert voltage. Ensure the item you want to use can accept 240V. Secondly, British wiring relies on the appliances themselves having their own fuse (normally 13A) inside their plugs. The building circuit itself is protected by a hefty 30A fuse/breaker. As this adapter does NOT have it's own fuse, it would be prudent to avoid using any appliances that pull a good amount of current as you would not be protected until 30Amps. Play it safe and keep it to small stuff like chargers & shavers.
