Honor Bound dives right into the attraction and the action. Milton is experienced, hardened, and tough. Oh, and runs the CIA. He's dealing with a new element in his group - genetically modified women who are intelligent, fit, and sexy. And can read minds. Though the women all look alike, each has a very distinct personality. Ann Gimpel does a great job of conveying how this transition impacts each individual separate. It's great seeing these women raised in captivity integrating themselves into an entire pack of highly trained CIA operatives.
The book moves quickly, with excellent pacing. There was no point where I felt I needed to skim or skip ahead, but at the same time, I felt immersed in the moment instead of as if it had all been rushed.
And the romance - that's the important bit, right? The connection between Milton and Honor is fantastic. Ms Gimpel does a fantastic job of showing how each's past impacts their decisions now, she stayed away from giving her heroine daddy issues, despite the age difference between Milton and Honor (which I appreciated) and watching them fall in love was great.
Highly recommend this book, and I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The author did a great job of summarizing the storyline of Winning Glory so new readers understand what's going on. In Honor Bound the women train to go out with the CIA team to try to free more of the women from other compounds. They aren't able to free more women, but two of the Nameless Ones (males who held the women captive) ask for amnesty and join the team.
Honor and Milton are attracted to each other, but will they act on it? Or will his job and position with the CIA keep them apart? And Honor and the other women have spent so much time hating the Nameless Ones who kept them captive, will they be able to work with Frank and Tony? Can the various groups trust each other enough to work together? The storyline will keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. It definitely kept me riveted and reading.
I loved the first two books and can't wait to read the next book in the series Claiming Charity! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
