The battle system is awesome. It takes a while to get the hang of it but once you start getting better you will have a blast. It demands as much skills as strategy and it is the best fighting game I've played since Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (it s a fighting game on its core so keep that in mind).
HOWEVER: its just unplayable. You get kicked out of 5 out of 8 matches. The orders (daily challenges that provide extra xp and loot) force you to play the least enjoyable game mode (you are not forced but if you want to get xp at decent rate you have to do the orders). And even if you are able to play a match it's really probable that you'll end up fighting a player with much better gear than yours which translates in your total annihilation in a matter of minutes. It is also almost impossible to play an entire match with your mates since at least one of you will be kicked out before the match ends.
The 2v2 and the 1v1 modes are the best experience since you are not usually kicked out and gear stat don't apply there so its just you and your skill vs your opponents.
I loved the core mechanics but everything built around them is BAD. If you love fighting games and you are really tired of the street fighter / mortal combat style gameplay you should try it out but keep in mind that the game is broken and that Ubisoft its taking its time to fix it.
Comparing it to my gold standard of capture the bases / capture the flag games, LOTR Conquest multiplayer, it comes out very mediocre.
