Deon, a.k.a. "Crazy D," was an ex-con who came from a troubled background. After serving a 20-year bid in prison, Deon is released and tries to do the right thing, but no one is trying to hire an ex-con. When the only person Deon loves and cares for is strung out and sentenced to prison, he concocts a plan to seek revenge for his mother, Serena. Looking to acquire what he feels is rightfully his, will Deon succeed or will he return back to prison?
In her prime, Serena had everything a man wanted...the looks and the body. Serena used that to her advantage. Serena defined the true meaning of a hustler. Men were like putty in her hands. Serena loved and craved designer clothes and shoes...you name it, and she had to have it. In order to maintain her lifestyle, Serena needed several men to satisfy her desires and wants. Carelessness causes Serena's life to spiral out of control. Will Serena remain on top, or will this be the end and demise of Serena's terror?
Hoodfellas was definitely not your typical gangster story. The book dealt with a man who was trying to seek vengeance for his mother, but who was also loyal to his friends who looked out for him through out his life. Deon was a very smart man who could adapt to any situation. He could become a corporate businessman and then be a straight up thug. Corporate society wouldn't give him a chance, so he took control of his life and devised a plan to create his own success....but at what cost? Hoodfellas showed the different facets of a man who wanted to do right, but due to his environment, he is sucked back into the life he knows.
Loved the way Crazy D transformed himself to suit the crime! I also liked the loyalty he had with a touch of passion for his friends. I was a little surprised because I have read most of RJ's books and this story is different from what he usually writes as it is street fiction. Aside from a few typos I enjoyed the story.

The book starts out with Crazy D wrecking havoc as we read on we learn the history of Deon Campbell aka Crazy D. His father was killed before he was born and thus begins the decked being stack against him. His mother had her issues, which I will not get into. Needless to say Crazy D had it rough. One of the biggest things I liked about the book was even though it all I understood his reason and he wasn't a bad guy at all, crazy yes but not bad. Crazy D had to make a way out of no way. After being released from prison he tried to live a "good" life but had doors slammed in his face, so he did what he does best he turn to the streets. Crazy D's antics are out there and keep me interested in what he was gonna do next
I was not crazy about the typeset used in the book. The editing was good a few typo but nothing to distract me. The flow was good and I love the ending to the book, as it was different. I believe the click Hood Fellas will have readers pulling for them to come out on top. Tune in to see if this is the case.

Richard introduces street to another level - MAfia Style.
Each character is skillfully defined allowing the reader to almost see, know etc., the personality of the individual presented in each scene. Again, this is what he(Richard) does best. I just wish he would come out with more books himself. (at least two a year)
Crazy D - Deon is faced with a not so easy perdicament that is far too common for all ex-cons, "A SECOND CHANCE." Being locked down for a bid of twenty years allowed him time to think and become too familiar with the in dept reasons for and different types of crimes that many of his fellow inmate buddies had done to land them in the same living quarters.
After being released from prison and attemps to make an honest living, D is force to put his tempered imaginable skills to work, thus making it easy to form/build the perfect brotherhood/impire, "THE HOODFELLAS." Choosing the members of his domain came easy since he would pick those he had spent many years bonding and getting to know one another.
No Neck, Tweak, Crusher, Short Dog and Crazy D known as "The Hoodfellas," terrorized and emptied pockets of distinct business owners. They all suffered in the hands of the Fellas and they too became victims of "NO SECOND CHANCES." The story reveals that only one member of the group knew the reasoning for and why which businesses were chose.
Believe it or not, this review does not summize the book. This is just a jist of it. I hope this review helps on choosing your next read.
