I don't think I've ever seen as lascivious a female character as Lily in this novel. She was lusting after the police chief, Nick Thomas, from the moment she laid eyes on him at the crime scene on the beach. She orchestrated lots of "run ins" with the "hunky" policeman thereafter. Fortunately, he was equally interested in her. Although there was no cussing or sex in the book, there was plenty of the sort of talk that men carry on about women's bodies and whatnot--only it was coming from this woman!
The book is filled with situational humor and lots of faux pas and other funny stuff. Lily seems to be a caring sort of person, but I didn't see a lot of depth in her character--or the others in the book, for that matter. That's probably what makes it a "cozy" mystery: not too much depth, but lots of feel-good vibes. The plot was somewhat predictable, as well, with a few twists. I figured out "whodunit" well before the characters put the pieces together.
It's cool that the author included a couple of recipes for goodies mentioned in the book. This story wraps up well enough to read as a stand-alone novel; however, it's part of a series. You get a sample of book two at the end of the eBook. I found quite a few typos in the e-version, but not so much to be a terrible distraction.
If you are looking for an easy read on-the-go, this is a decent choice. So long as you aren't expecting much in the area of character development or plot, but hanker for a nice, clean romance, then that's what you'll find in this book.
She living with her sister & husband at the B&B. Helps with different duties until he find a place of her own.
Walking along the beach 1st day of school she finds a dead naked man with seaweed. Cheif of Police Nick Thomas i on this case. She finds him very attractive.
This little town everyone knows everyone 's business. So many gossips you don't know who to trust.
She's a suspect & decided to investigate who murdered the local garbage man.
There are so many characters, twists & turns you probably won't guess who did it. There is danger too. Plus will Nick decide he likes Lily.
Enjoy this book.
