I used this to make a delicious vegan version of mac and cheese--it's fantastic and will fool anyone who doesn't know it's vegan.
Creamy Vegan Mac and Cheese
Ingredients
 16 oz. dried elbow or shell macaroni
 1½ C. peeled/diced russet potatoes
 ½ C. peeled/diced carrots
 ½ C. chopped onion
 1 C. water (preferably use liquid from pot of boiled veggies)
 ¾ C. raw cashews
(soaked in water for 30 min)
 ½ C. coconut milk
 ½ C. nutritional yeast flakes
 2 Tbs. lemon juice
 1½ tsp. salt (or more to taste)
 ½ tsp. garlic powder
 2 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
 2 pinch paprika

Directions

1. Cook macaroni al dente, according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
2. Bring several C. of water to boil in a small pot.
3. Place chopped potatoes, carrots, and onion in the boiling water, and cook for about 10 minutes, or until vegetables are tender and soft enough to blend.
Cooking time will vary slightly, based on how small you have chopped your veggies.
4. When veggies are soft enough to blend, use a slotted spoon to remove them from cooking water, and place them in your blender.
5. Add 1 C. of that cooking water to your blender, along with your remaining ingredients.
6. Blend until smooth.
7. Pour sauce over your cooked macaroni noodles in a dish of your choice, taste for salt, and serve immediately.
Or,
place macaroni mixture in a baking dish, sprinkle with bread crumbs, and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes, or until crumbs are turning golden brown.

Hi, well I have been using mostly Bragg's yeast, small plastic spice type tall jar, just ran out, and while I love anything Bragg's, I do find this particular yeast flakes, large, flakes, very thin, lovely flavor, better taste, unique, and I am liking this much better. While I will still purchase anything Bragg's, for the nutritional yeast flakes, this larger size, came as shown, in a large plastic tub type jar, seems more tasty, and will last me quite a while. Factor in the cost, this is the winner for now. I keep mine in the fridge after opening. I put on pasta, salads and veggies. I love this.

I just got on Amazon to order a new tub of this, and can't believe that I haven't reviewed it yet. This is the third time I've bought this Hoosier Hill Farm version of nutritional yeast, and it's really great. Before finding this, I was buying the NOW Foods brand, but those flakes were small and not as tasty; the Hoosier Hill flakes are large and really taste and smell fresh.

If you're vegan, these are a great way to add a cheesy taste to your meals. I use them for things like mac and cheez, and know that they add good nutritional value to my food.

The tub also keeps these fresh, and one tub usually lasts me about nine months. The opening is also large enough to get a measuring cup into, which makes it east to measure out your servings.

I was so happy to see that Amazon is now offering this on Subscribe and Save, and hope it continues to!

I recently discovered nutritional yeast when researching vegan cooking. I wasn't sure if the brands would vary. I've gotten this Hoosier Hill Farm brand twice now & also got the Bragg's brand shaker. To me they taste the same. The flakes are a tiny bit larger in the Hoosier Hill Farm brand. I refill my shaker with them and put it on just about everything. Also, don't leave the container open around your cats. My cat LOVES nutritional yeast. She has always been a super grumpy, mean, Siamese cat. Since I started putting nutritional yeast on her food for every meal the vitamin B's in it have improved her temperament enormously! We both love it! Double plus!

Plastic in flakes

It was great quality, until I realized there were lots of little pieces of plastic packaging scattered throughout the flakes. I use nutritional yeast very frequently in my diet and was excited to find such a good deal. Unfortunately, I won't be able to purchase this brand again.

My husband and I are addicted to kale chips and we use nutritional yeast flakes on them every time to add a savory element. About a quarter cup of yeast flakes to a couple tablespoons of olive oil and a bit of garlic salt. Mix into a paste and rub into the kale leaves. Bake for 20 minutes at 300, heaven! This tub should last for months, even at the rate we use them.

As good as Braggs, only cheaper. Can't go without topping this on my salads. My absolute fav is cut up avocados, topped with hot peppers, sprinkled with nutritional yeast. Been experimenting adding this to soups, tofu, toast and it just seems to work with everything!
